Why couldn't your tattoo artist draw it?

Definitely have a tattoo artist draw it. The one who will tattoo on it. Think of it as an audition.

well i've been going to the same girl for two years now, i just know there are some really good artists here on the forums and just wanted to see what people could come up with. all my tattoos have come from drawings i've found mixed in with her influences, but like i said, i'd still like to see what people could come up with

The only people I've gotten to draw custom things for me for free were friends. I would make a strong effort at putting out the local word, maybe someone owes you a favour?

I'd work on it for 25$/hour.

I don't know of any artists who would do that for free. Tattoos are kind of a big deal.

tattoos are a big deal, i'm not looking for a tattoo artist tho, i'm just looking for someone who has freetime, but time is money, right? i do appreciate you all replying to me tho.

i wont be gettng the tattoo in question for awhile tho, i know that i have to (atleast) get the death star, fill in the imperial symbol as well as the rest of my chest finished.

but like i said, i'm taking all things into consideration, including paying someone to draw it out, i just know there are some very talented artists in these forums.

The problem with getting an artist to draw a tattoo that isn't a tattoo artist is that they don't understand what is possible with tattoos and what isn't. They don't know how much detail in an area is too much, or how thin lines can be or anything. Often times they are also poor at knowing how to compose an image on top of a body part. Try visiting tattoo shops and check out their art books if you don't want your tattoo artist to design it.

well, guys, i'm guessing this isn't gonna get very many replies or interest. anyways, thanks again to those who did reply and for the advice they gave. i do understand an artist wouldn't want to work for free, but i would be glad to work out an arrangement and compensation.

If y0uou're willing to pay, check out the artist's forum here, find someone whose art style you like, and send them a PM.

My tattoo artists have always been willing to draw out my tattoo right before doing it, at no charge in addition to the tattoo itself - but they haven't been horribly intricate either (well, one was, but I brought a half dozen pictures for her to work off of)
