Broken digital camera: CCD dead?

So I had an awesome Canon Powershot A95. It took great pics. Then one day, about one year ago, it got like this:
We bought a locally made Lumix (oh god it sucks so much without the Leica lens), and forgot about the awesome Powershot (ok, it was kinda big and ate 4 AAs, used Compact Flash and wasn't really fast, but the pics rocked).
Then I found the Powershot lying around and wondered... Could it be saved? It looks like the CCD is screwed, right? So it's dead for good?
