I had a quick go on PQ yesterday, apart from that pesky cheating AI (doesn't really cheat, I know, I know :P) the core mechanic and abilities are make gameplay more interesting than Gyromancer.
Twisting in GM is ok, but customisation and the creature ability gems are pretty limited in scope, and the increasingly high penalties for idle twisting when there are no available moves makes for some pretty frustrating moments. Some games seem unwinnable from the outset, or totally cripple your critters before the next fight.
At least with PQ when you get a crappy hand dealt to you there are some strategies you can employ to boost or heal yourself, or hinder the enemy.
