If you like the whole GTA style romp genre, the saints row games are pretty fun, and are probably in the bargain bin at this point.
Mass Effect is good and if you liked fallout 3 you'll probably enjoy it. Plus it's timely, since you'll be able to buy the sequel soon if you really like it.

Assassin's Creed, Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, and if you can find it, Devil May Cry 4 are some good sub $20 games.
well thanks for the suggestions.
i was surprised how many games that were around that range.
you know what ended up happening... i am friends with the manager. he found out that i finished MW2 in just around 6.5 hours and since i bought it used, gave me full credit ($54.95) for it.
i ended up grabbing dragon age origins.
pretty awesome i think.
yeah... i know the manager for a few years. i buy a lot of used from him but i am picky. hes cool. i preorder stuff and he likes that.
i thought i made that clear, he did a return on it because of the stupid play time.
i should point out, that i did NOT ask for the return. he did it because he's pretty cool about that stuff.
besides, he upsold me to dragon age, a 25 hour plus game ;-)
Well there is a 7 day return policy on all used games for any reason at all, but I've known many managers that wouldn't offer it if the person didn't know about it. Sounds like you've found a good manager, I'd keep him.
I am probably completely alone here, but I loved Jericho for its atmosphere and character-switching. It's only about 9-10 hours and probably $15 or less.
Armored Core 4 and For Answer run for around 20 bucks each on amazon if you buy from one of the dealers. Don't know about the price scaling in B&M shops, though.

Nooo no no, I loved Jericho. Bought it real cheap ($10 I think) so I didn't feel like I was ripped off...had its downsides but I thought it was definitely a Good Time.

One time I bought a Used game, and then I had to return it a few days later because, well, it was terrible. So I go back in, pick out some other used game, which was slightly higher priced I might add, and go to ring it up.
The manager is there, and is ringing me up at the register. The manager tells me that I shouldn't return used games. I asked why. He said because I can't be using his Gamestop store as a rental service.

Fucking asshole.
You have no idea how many people actually DO try to do that, though.
They come in once a week with the old game in tow, picking out another one.
He should have had more tact talking to you, though.

The policy lets them, so I don't see the problem.
I just got Gears of War used for 10 bucks myself. Pretty good deal, I thought.
The policy is there primarily to help parents who accidentally bought a game for their children that was more explicit than they realized, and secondarily to help out folks who buy a game only to have it turn out to be crap.
It's there to be used, not abused. The fact that you can weasel your way in to free rentals doesn't make it suddenly morally okay. ESPECIALLY if you're going to turn around and complain about retailers trying to take advantage of you.
Finally, if everyone WERE to use the policy like this, it would simply be removed, so basically, by trying to play the free rental game, you inevitably ruin things for everyone else who has a LEGITIMATE reason to use the policy (like, they accidentally bought bullet witch.)
The policy is there primarily to help parents who accidentally bought a game for their children that was more explicit than they realized, and secondarily to help out folks who buy a game only to have it turn out to be crap.
Well, seeing as how 90% of games released are usually crap...
ehhh it's hard to argue morality when the other party is gamestop
That is such a bullshit statement. If you are up in arms over gamestop's behavior, then you ought to be equally outraged when customers try to take advantage of retail policies. If you don't care about it either way, that's fine, of course, but I get sick of the hypocritical bullshit you see where folks who bitch about store ripping them off all the time never miss an opportunity to turn around and rip some one else off.
really what they should do is just not accept more than some number of returns per customer per whatever length of time
That is basically what they do, but they let the managers deal with individuals case by case. Trust me, it is a much better outcome for the customers this way, because they can continue to make returns if there are legitimate iossues. If there was a policy that said "two returns", it would end up hurting people, overall.
The mom and pop store I worked at made it simple. Unless defective, return value dropped by a dollar a day. Beat a $40 game in 3 days? You now have $37 store credit. Worked out pretty well and weeded out most of the problem kids (of all ages). They all went to the EB across the hall to talk about whatever shitty anime was on The WB at the moment and wistfully reminisce about games made before they were born.

but that is like justifying the piracy of a game by stating that since so many of them are bad, you will just get the good ones.
i do agree with your statement.
i did not expect the full credit. i actually called beforehand to a different store and thought i had like, $20-$30 credit lol.
i mean, i bought dark sector (boo) and never returned it. it was terrible, but how lame is returning a $5.99 used game lol

I don't get up in arms about it because I don't expect major retailers to play nice, and in turn don't expect their customers will. It's not as though everyone obeying the spirit of a return policy will cause corporate HQ to make concessions.
I'm not saying the return policy should be 'two per customer,' I'm saying it should be 'one per month' or something like that. And if it already is something like that and their managers are just lazy, well, I care even less.

Most of the time if I have to return a Used game it's because the disc was scuffed or scratched to make it unreadable in the console drive (or the save function is corrupt in the case of GBA games several years ago).
Of course since then I've been pretty keen on checking the discs before I leave the store to make sure there aren't any deep scratches or scuffs or unremoveable material from the disc.

Holy shit no man. Jericho kicked some ASS. I got over 900 points in that game. Totally destroyed it. Just a couple achievements I never got. Sadly. Play it as much as I did and its well over 15 hours.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay more than 25 hours, and if you're getting seriously invested it'll be multiple playthroughs as well.

Until the policy is removed like so many good return policies before it.
Well, yea. I don't think the game industry is helping the situation, by releasing so many games these days that only last 6 or 7 hours.

To be honest, it's the only reason I can't really advocate 1943: A few more bucks and you have a full game.
The store clerk made a crack about jiggle physics when he rang me up.

I have to ask.
Why the fuck is that Table Tennis game always 20 or more dollars.
Why.
Edit: also holy fuck thats a lot of excellent games for cheap. Like. Fucking rockin excellent.
its always $20 or more because on the box it reads "ROCKSTAR GAMES"
which means "PERCEIVED VALUE" when it comes to sales.
