Hey, I lent a flash drive out to a not-too-tech-savvy friend, who apparently fucked up the drive. It now appears to have write protection it, and I can't transfer a single file to it. Also, Windows won't let me format the drive. Is there any way to remove the write protection?
Have you checked to see if the drive has a little physical switch that enables write protection? A fair number of thumb drives have these and can get switched on accidentally.
Oh man, now I feel like an idiot. I looked at that switch earlier, and it appeared to be in the "unlocked" position so I figured that wasn't the problem, but just nudging it to the other side and back fixed it. Thanks a lot man.
Edit: While some files will transfer, it doesn't appear that all of them will. I can't get any .avi files to go over. Any suggestions?
