So I watched Hard-Boiled again, and it has me in the mood for guns-akimbo antics. Such activities are more fun with multiple people. Stranglehold has the John Woo tie-in, but the multiplayer was not exactly stellar.
So I decided I'd look back at a couple some Half-Life mods I used to play, and found that they were still being updated.
As usuall, I will steal from wikipedia:
Action Half-Life
Action Half-Life (abbreviated AHL) is a mod for the award-winning first-person shooter computer game Half-Life. It strives to simulate action movies, especially those directed by John Woo.
Action Half-life has a stunt system similar to the one found in Max Payne, introduced in Action beta 3.0 long before Max Payne was released. It was also the first Half-Life mod to feature akimbo pistols (although they are treated as one weapon). Furthermore, it pioneered several graphic enhancements to the Half-Life engine, including the visible laser sight and wall debris.
The object of the game is very similar to Half-life: kill or be killed.
At the start of a round, players must choose a Single Pistol, Unique Weapon, and Special Item. Unlike the buy menu in Counter-strike, these weapons are free and have limited ammunition, which makes tactical usage crucial.
In addition to the usual Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, a round based game-mode called "Last Man Standing" is also available, which can be described as either Deathmatch without respawning or Teamplay with everyone on their own team
This mod was great. Cools maps, good balance, and the stunt system worked well. This Rock Paper Shotgun artciles sums up the mod pretty well.

The Specialists is intended to resemble a generic action movie, and is often compared to the film Face/Off, though several of the default player models, maps, and some of the game-play elements appear to be references to The Matrix. It contains over 29 weapons, many power-ups, and 5 official game-types (although the game has a fifth, unofficial game-type, Role-Playing). Weapons and attacks are highly lethal while accuracy is unaffected by movement, leading to a frenetic pace of gameplay.
One of the features that The Specialists is known for is "Bullet Time"; the ability to manipulate time to pass in slow motion. "Bullet Time" has been implemented in other titles such as Max Payne, but is typically found only in single-player titles, whereas The Specialists is mainly a multi-player modification. The game also makes heavy use of stunts, even rewarding players with scoring bonuses for stunt combinations, and also has a simple, yet powerful, kung fu system for melee attacks. Although it is far from being the first shooter to include stunts and kung fu (notable spiritual predecessors include The Opera and Action Half Life), The Specialists is the first to combine them with multi-player slow motion game-play, and to integrate the various types of combat (shooting, stunting, melee) into a fluid experience.
Compared to AHL, The Specialists is more Matrix than John Woo, and the weapons aren't balanced as well. Still pretty fun.

There was also a mod called 'The Opera' but I never really played it.
So, anybody else remember these two?
