Need help installing Fallout.

So, I'm trying to install Fallout on my laptop, but every time I click the install button (I ignore the option of installing the "new" DirectX software; I have the latest) the screen goes black, and it never goes anywhere. Is their a patch for this, or is their something else I have to do?

    You're using XP? I just tried to make sure, and with SP2 is works fine for me.

    I ran into this problem running XP with SP2. When I used CAD to kill it, then started it up again, it worked.
