My brother, dad, myself, and my mom all use Verizon wireless (family plan). When any of us call my mom, she gets an audio message that says "Verizon Wireless" before the ring. It doesn't do this on our phones when she calls any of us. Has anyone else experienced this, or have some idea of what's causing it?
It's not really a problem, but the unknown is always frustrating.

I've heard that message before when I've used my phone when out of town (so out of my normal calling area).
There's a function you can use to attune your phone to your local area... but I can't remember it off the top of my head... its * and two digits... I'll see if I can find it.
Turning off the roaming notice got rid of the symptom, but it would be nice to know the number. I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost anything to roam since it's to other Verizon phones, but it's better to have it set right just in case.

Press 1 when you hear the pre-recorded woman's voice and you'll get elevator music for about a minute while your phone's PRL updates.
The cell phone thread in Moe's is also a great place to ask any questions related to your phone.
