it is a small form factor nettop (I don't like that term lol)

I want to hook this directly up to my Sony HDTV via hdmi cable, attach it to my network and play hd mkv and stream hd hulu etc from it.

But will this work for 1080p or 720p mkv etc?
The processor is an intel atom 1.6ghz. The product promotional material says it will stream bluray disc which is different than a file.

The video chipset is an nvidia ion. I am out of the loop on video cards. Is this what determines if the device can do the hd video?

Thanks for any insights

HD video playback, yes, it should have no problems with that
Flash (Hulu) playback however isn't going to run well. I think hardware acceleration is supposed to be supported by Flash sometime, but who knows how long that'll take.

Hardware acceleration is coming to Flash pretty soon, actually. Flash 10.1 will have it, and you can download and install the beta now.

yeah I found that out after I wrote the my post, then I downloaded the beta, but youtube hd videos still drops a lot of frames with the added bonus of hq videos now having ugly nearest neighbor resizing. Not too convinced this is going out of beta soon.
