So basically this. I really liked the Anita Blake series, more specifically, I really like the word Laurell Hamilton created with it being modern day but with fantasy creatures. I also like the interplay and politics between the species, and of course the action adventures of Anita Blake. However, I only read to like book 5 or so of the series (for reasons explained in spoilered image).
So are there any other series out there that are similar but actually have story lines? To be clear, I don't mind the sex, I like sex as much as the next guy, but I am reading the book for a story about a kick ass vampire hunter in an awesome world where mythical creatures exist. I'll watch some porn if I want an entire story line of sexual adventures.

The Dresden Files series of books by Jim Butcher seems tailor made for you. It's about a modern day wizard called Harry Dresden and it follows him as he tries to investigate supernatural cases that occur in his home city.
Amusingly enough, Wikipedia also has this to say about the author.
in 1996 he enrolled in a writing class where he was encouraged to write a novel similar to the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton, rather than the more traditional High fantasy that had been his focus in the past, as Butcher had previously stated that he enjoyed the Anita Blake series. The result was Semiautomagic, later to be retitled as Storm Front. His writing teacher declared it to be publishable, and Butcher started hunting around to do just that.
I would also recommend the Southern Vampire Series, the ones the show True Blood is based on, as it actually encompasses a world well beyond just vampires.
However, reviews on the series have been mixed, and you've been warned. I like it, but it's not hard to see why some people don't.

'Fuck yeah, me too. What little kid ever pretended to be part of the lynch-mob?'
