Ds lite isn't going to sleep properly and is locking up or shutting down

I have a ds lite that's about 2 years old, never had any problem with it before. Now, when I close it up to put it to sleep, the power light flashs really quickly and it makes a weird clicking noise. After a couple of minutes it turns off. Does anyone know what this means? Or am I going to have to send it in?
Thanks

edit: now it's not doing anything when I close it, just staying on

next edit: ok, now it's locking up or turning itself off whenever I close the lid. Can anyone help with this

Just going to bump this once, if anyone knows what's going wrong.

You don't have a card in the slot? The clicking/flashing thing happens to me when there isn't a proper card inserted, because the sleep code requires bits that are on the card and can't find them.

    Only time I've seen this.

No, it's happening while I play Zelda. It was working fine for a few hours, only recently started this. Maybe the game is a bit damaged?

Are you sure it's not a pirated cart?

Try another game and see if it does the same thing when you close it on that game.

Either way I'd give a call to see if someone can troubleshoot that for you. Kinda of a weird problem to see but I can almost guarantee it'll have to be sent in for repair.

I'm on holidays at the moment, so can't get anyone to check it and I only brought one game. I guess I'll have to wait until I get home to try that.
