Looking for an (80's?) metal song *SOLVED, thanks to everyone for helping*

Cross-posted in the D&D chat thread:

I heard this song on the radio, and it sounds like a band I know but I can't seem to find it. It's this 80's synth-metal thing with a choir in the background as the lead singer (who sounds like he's from Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, but I can't find a song that matches up) sings about Jesus Christ dying on the cross. Anyone know who it is? My second guess was Mushroomhead, but I can't find it on their albums either.

    Maybe it was Stryper?

Hmm, no, not Stryper. The lead singer has an extremely deep voice. I don't know that it's actually from the 80's, but it sounds just like it.

Okay, this is absolutely driving me crazy. The song itself is mostly choir/piano/synth piano, with the lead singer harmonizing most of it until the chorus where he switches to a death growl kind of thing, saying what I think is 'Jesus Christ is dead'. The song itself is, from what I can gather, about Jesus' final moments before being crucified.

After that description, I first thought of two 90s Christian metal bands called Mortification and Paramaecium, but they're more death metal I think.

That's been my thought, too, but it doesn't really seem to fit. He says "Corpus Christi" and then later "Body of Christ". It doesn't really mention him being on the cross or anything. I also don't remember a choir.

Edit: Directed to the deleted post that suggested Christian Woman.

    Possibly a Therion song?

This isn't it, but it's similar and awesome anyway so I'm linking it.

There's definitely a Mushroomhead song with lyrics similar to that.

I lost my Mushroomhead CD ages ago, so I can't verify, but they do tend to get all choiry and synthy.

Do you know which CD? Might help me track it down.

Really? I was actually going to guess Type O Negative earlier today, but something about the description made it sound like it couldn't be them.

I've only heard the song twice on the radio, but it sounded like a band I knew and it was driving me crazy.

    Yeah, same.

    Great album, by the way.
