I can't find these damn cables anywhere. EB has the MadCatz one, but they sell them for $50 when the Madcatz site sells them for... $20 . Anyone know a site I can get these shipped overnight? Most of the places I searched are either out of stock or look like someone made it in their garage.
I ordered mine Christmas morning and they arrived IN CANADA on that Friday. Yes, they said they were out of stock when I ordered them, and yes, I got piles of warnings about how shipping may be delayed.
Yeah, I think a lot of companies are underestimating their stock. I ordered FF3 on ebgames.com and it says it's backordered (still does). ordered on tuesday, paid the slowest shipping, and it arrived 2 days later. I was a bit surprised, to say the least.
I bought the $10 ones from Play-Asia on the 28th and just got 'em today. They seem to be just fine. Although they seem to be backordered at the moment.
I got my cables from Rhino (RIP) for $20. They were just sitting there with the Wii accesories, first set I've ever seen.
my Rhino doesn't have em. That's the first place I called.
GrimDog, that's a damn nice cord. My 360/PS2/Wii are all on the same level on my shelf too. This gets rid of the need for me to buy a system selector now.
Going to order this right now
EDIT - seems like that would be a pre-order for that product. I guess I gotta wait.

I'm pretty sure the Canada orders are shipped from their Richmond, BC HQ. I live in Vancouver, and I got them two days after I ordered.

I dunno, the RGB cables look pretty scrawny. I found a set at Frys that were $40 (:() and of similar girth, and the quality of the image isn't exactly top-notch. Certainly better than composite, of course, but I'm hoping someone releases a set with decent quality that doesn't cost $60, and can actually be found in stores.

The size of the cord determines the quality or something? Also, is the set from the same company or wha?

I grabbed one I found at Best Buy. It was on the peg with the S-Video cables. It helps that I work there.

It's generally an indication of shielding. Not an infallible one.. some expensive cables can be very thin and have no signal problems, some cheap ones can be really thick and have lots of problems.
But it works as a rule of thumb. A cheap thin cable is guaranteed to have signal problems.
What percent would you say that these Component Cables will make my picture better?
I'm by no means a snobby gamer... will this $20 make a big difference for me?

A lot of shimmering will disappear, colors will be richer, and edges will be a little bit sharper. Not as good as HD, but it still makes an excellent SD image.
I guess I lucked out, two days ago my BB had nothing wii related, but today they had everything. About twenty sets of the 25$ react componnt cable, wiimotes/chucks, ect...
everything except trauma center. Although that may be for the best, 'll wait for it to drop in price.
I've got a question about the 480p setting, and this thread seems like the perfect place to ask. My TV is an older model HDTV, and there are two component inputs: one for 480i, and one for 480p/1080i.
I'd like to plug the Wii (once I get one) into the 480p jack, obviously, but also want to play GameCube games with it.
Anyone know if it actually plays GameCube games in 480p when the Wii is set to 480p, or if it actually sends a 480i signal when playing GameCube games?

If your Wii is set to use 480p, then all Gamecube games played on it that support 480p will be displayed in 480p.

You have the Wii set up for 480p. If a GC game supports that, it comes up with the little "Do you want progressive scan" box as if you were holding B on the cube. If the GC game doesn't do prog scan, it just plays it in regular 480i.
So you might possibly be screwed. Can your second component jack not do a 480i signal and only a 480p? Seems a bit weird to me why the TV wouldn't just switch it on the fly, but I don't know much about TV's.

Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, and Mario Sunshine should all be good. I'm assuming Metriod Prime 2 is also covered, just not listed there. Never had a 'Cube, so hoping to get these exclusives. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, my TV is a Zenith, and it is weird like that. One component in ONLY does 480i, and the other ONLY does 480p/1080i, and actually won't display 480i. Since the games I'm interested in seem to all be 480p though, that should be fine.

Assuming your set has component inputs, it'll make a pretty dramatic difference over the cruddy composite cables that came with the system. S-video will also give you a really big difference over composite, though. Component is nicer than s-video, but the difference is small.
Your clal as to what's right for you.

I do have the inputs but my set is a freaking apex... seems like maybe I'll get these cables if I see them in the store, but I wont specifically put effort in getting them

You know, once I got my cube cables I never ever had to hold B to get the prompt. It always just showed up on compatible games. I've always wondered if that was just me.
So where is the Nintendo love for s-video? The official site says fuck all and stores are collectively shrugging when I ask them about it.
Back when I was still searching for component cables in stores (then I got them off Nintendo's site and a couple days later saw some $40-priced 3rd party ones at Fry's... although they're just the same cables that React/Asis/Penguin United/Psyclone[for their cheaper kind] put their names on... oh well, at least mine are gold-plated), my Best Buy had only React S-Video cables.
dont mean to sound like a n00b here but whats the difference between s-video and component cables? i just bought a spiffy new lcd tv for my wii but still need to get cables for it.... just wonderin

Also, I want em NOW!!! I'm impatient as hell since I got back home and have an HDTV to put this thing on.
I got a nice gift card for Christmas and figured that would be what I use it on.

I haven't seen any, but GameCube cable won't work. The multi-out plug is a different shape on the Wii than on the GameCube.
I FUCKING NEED THAT.
I don't care how close to broke I am. I need that.

Ordered them on the 30th and got them the second with just the standard ground shipping.
Have since hooked then up and they work great. Nice to finally have the wii in 480p.
Too bad that I fear that my $5 datel component switch with IR might not be working (or the ancient cables I dug up don't work)
