Xbox Live and 1-month Trial

I bought a 360 in late October 06' and I soon activated the 1 month trial for Xbox Live. Well, November and December rolled around and they still haven't downgraded me to silver, and as of January, I'm still a gold member. Now, I haven't put in my credit card and I haven't received a bill or anything. Currently in the account management settings, it has the joined date as October 2006, the end date as December 2006, and I don't have any payment or renewal options set. And, as I said, I'm still gold status as of January 5th, 2007. I haven't typed in any codes or any of that. The account is fresh, as in, created straight on my 360 and I didn't use account recovery. Nowhere have I typed in a credit card number or anything.

I don't quite understand why this is, but my concern is not so much that Microsoft is going to stop giving me this free ride (if that is what this is), but that they're going to suddenly start charging me somehow. I most certainly don't want to be charged as I have a 12 month code sitting right in front of me that I have been keeping to redeem it when my account drops to silver.

Anyone have any clues?

I can't tell you anything other than it happened to me as well. I am still have a Gold Membership even though I activated early November. Something similar happened with the cable company last year with me as well. I downgraded my account to basic but was still getting full cable. Just an oversight I guess.

There's no way for them to charge you without a CC#.

You'll probably drop to Silver once their system catches up.. I was getting a free ride (on the OXbox Live) until two days ago. It seems their billing/etc system is all screwed up right now.

    Yup.

Legally, you signed up for a free trial. You didn't agree to any sort of billing, so they can't collect from you. They screwed up, their loss.

Ethically or morally, you might be required to report it to them. Legally, it's all yours. Personally, I probably wouldn't say anything, but I'm not exactly a bastion of honesty.

Rock on. Thank you guys. I'll be enjoying my free ride, thank you very much. This thread can be locked, I suppose.
