Battlefield Bad Company 2: Prepare for glory

So I haven't seen a thread for this yet and I think it deserves one. This will be my first OP so be gentle.

What is it?

This is the sequel to last years Battlefield: Bad Company. Dice is publishing it using their Frostbite engine. If you've played the XBLA Battlefield: 1943 you will be familiar with the look and feel of the Frostbite engine.

What makes it better than the last one?

The graphics on BF:BC2 have been greatly improved over the last one. The trailers look sweet. They've also improved on one of the main selling points of BF:BC1....destructible environments. In the first one you could shot down/blow up any tree, fence, wall, etc. but you couldn't really take a building out. Now everything is fair game. Is a sniper is camping in that building? You can jump in your M1 Abrams and bring the building down on his head, or you can take out the engineers wrench and drill a hole on the wall and then shoot him through the hole.

The other big improvement is that the class system has been revamped a bit. The Specialist class is gone now. However you can customize each class slot to your liking sorta like MW2. You'll start out with basic kits and then gain upgrades as you level up. They've also added custom sights to the guns. You wont be stuck with Iron Sights for the whole game this time.

Why should I play this instead of Modern 1887fare 2?

#1.) Vehicles

In BF:BC2 you can chose from a variety of different vehicles to fight with. There's tanks, helicopters, Hummers, ATV's and more. Many of these can carry more than one person allowing you to get your whole squad into the fight very quickly.

#2.) Map size

The Maps in this game are huge. You could fit all the MW2 maps combined in one of these maps. That doesn't mean however that you will spend 80% of your play time running to the fight however. Not all the maps are that huge for one, and for another the game mechanics don't work that way. Plus there's enough vehicles around to get you where you want to go. Or you can just spawn on squad.

#3.) Squad based gameplay.

MW2 does very little to encourage or reward good team work. BF:BC2 is based around the team mentality. The medic has health and ammo packs to dish out, he can even bring you back to life with the shock paddles. The engineer can repair your vehicle. The scout can call in air strikes or mortars. A good 4 man squad can dominate this game.

What systems is it on?

This game will be available on 360, PS3, and PC. It isn't getting any Wii love. The PC will have dedicated servers unlike MW2.

There is a Beta running on PS3 right now. Demo's will be available on XBL and PC in January.

As of now the release date is March 2, 2010.

Now some eye candy.

Screens. Spoilered for huge.

Here's some video goodness

Bottom line for me is I can't wait for this game. I played the first one and it was so much more fun than Cod4. When this one comes out MW2 will probably become a coaster.
