Bought my wife a new Macbook. I'm not a mac user but the thing is damn slick and portable so I would love some good ideas for gaming both new and old.

Spill ye forth o cornucopia of mac gaming knowledge!

You got the wrong machine if you want to play games.

    Hardy har har.

Seriously, though, you are pretty much stuck with WoW.

    :P

If I dual boot does it lower the performance of the machine?

I can already play anything on my desktop PC, I just want to know whats fun for my Macbook.

While tempting, I won't be buying another copy of Dragon Age just to play on my Mac. I installed Heroes of Newerth which will net me endless hours of fun.

    'Twas only joking.

Plants vs. Zombies is on the Mac.

Only in the sense that the drivers for your graphics card won't be shiny and new. My iMac plays anything the (admittedly not very impressive) x1600 is expected to play.

Freespace open is freaking awesome with a Macbook. It's like playing a giant Gameboy.

Download EVE. Join MerchI. Kill and be killed. It's fun.

However, none of the really convenient side tools (EVEmon, EVE fitting tool) work natively on OS X.

playgreenhouse.com is excellent for buying games that work on both WIN and OSX. Unfortunately they don't seem to be adding new games and they never put anything on sale.

Some of the indie developers will also sell you license keys that will work for both WIN and OSX. Blizzard also puts out games who accept the same license for WIN and OSX.

Personally, as an owner of a Windows desktop and a Macbook, I wish more companies would sell you software that worked on both systems without needed to buy twice.
