I'm at the end of building my new PC, I recently upgraded the PSU on my old computer to a beefier 800w one. However my new motherboard needs a 24pin power connection and an 8 pin one too, yet I only have a four pin. I've tried it, and I get a continually intermittant POST beeping.
So what I'm asking is, will a 4 to 8 pin converter cable suffice or am I looking at buying a new PSU?
(the motherboard is an ASRock M3A790GXH/128M and the PSU is an ezcool PS-1000)
Never mind! The problem seems to be my graphics card, it's running fine off a four pin connector.
Fuck, the problem is my graphics card.
It wont run fine if it's PCI-E and you're trying to do that. You're risking damage to just about everything by running it on what it's not designed for.
I meant the motherboard's running fine off a four-pin connector. It says it's alright in the manual, so I'm not too worried about it. Turns out I'm a fucking moron, and forgot to plug one of two six-pin connectors into the card and that was giving me the POST error.

That being said, you should get the right parts.
I'm posting off the computer now!
