1600 MS Points, any good co-op games?

edited December 2009 in Games and Technology
So I've got 1600 points sitting on my account and my friend and I are down to almost nothing to play. Are there any good Co-op games on XBL?

I already have Castle Crashers (wish they'd make another game similar to this) and Geometry Wars.

We are looking specifically for co-op games, not vs. Any suggestions?

I believe Diner Dash and Invincible Tiger have cooperative modes, their respective quality being up to taste and opinion.

    Castle Cra-- well, shit.

    A friend and I had fun co-oping Doom. I think it's 400 now.

Also, Contra is good co-op fun as well.

Worms *can* be played co-operatively since it's turn based, and alliances can be set on a round to round basis. I recommend going with Armageddon over the first iteration since that had to be the worst worms in history.

Contra is the arcade one right? Nah I am hoping they'll release the NES version some day. I forgot about TMNT I have that. We could do that for a few hours or so. Also have DOOM forgot about that.

    Invincible Tiger? What's that?

Also metal slug 3, maybe R-type/1943? Not certain R-type and 1943 have multiplayer on xbla but recall nes versions did.

I think you're right and they do have some multiplayer.

Aegis Wing could be fun for an hour or so.

    And it's free!

But you probably already have that.

e: And I'll second Splosion Man. Good times.

Splosion Man has a co-op mode with all new levels specifically designed for multiplayer. Online multiplayer was really laggy at first, but they released a patch for that a couple months ago so it should be fine now (and of course local co-op is no problem).

For older stuff, Heavy Weapon was really fun in co-op multiplayer although you'll need to bring your own friends (the online community had moved on to newer things last time I checked).

The ONLY problem with most of those games (I have Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii) is that they aren't long at all. Castle Crashers was played for months.

Well Castle Crashers is basically all the good stuff from these sort of games with a level of polish and thought on top to make it addictively fun, the only similar xbox experience I can think of for co op is something like a Marvel Ultimate alliance 1 or 2 for long term co op fun times.

Oh yeah, we've played through both of those already.

How about The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai then? It's basically 2D Devil May Cry with co-op. Tons of levels, tons of challenge arenas, and a high level of difficulty should keep you busy for quite some time.

You also get plenty of options on how to play. There is a story mode with about seventeen levels, but also a series of arcade-style levels that challenge you to rack up a high score, and you can even play some of these modes online. System link and same-system co-op are also supported, including an option for a third player to join in using a guitar as their controller! Combine this with a basic system of upgrades to buy, and you have reasonable depth for a game of this genre.

Yes, but IIRC you have to find an item to enable it.

edit: nevermind, I was thinking about the guitar controller thing.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed has 2 player local coop and 4 player local multiplayer. Also, that game is fantastic.

The co-op is a bit brutal though, as the screen splits whenever it feels like it and can be disorienting. I don't know if an HD tv improves this.

Invincible Tiger is a silly beat-em-up of questionable quality. I've played the demo and it was fun, but I can't tell you if the gameplay evolves past the beginning or if the co-op is well implemented. It's not available in the demo.

Zombie Apocalypse is pretty good if you're into Robotron or SmashTV. Lack of bosses is a shame, though.

I totally agree with Schizoid. This game is made specifically for Co-op... Of course you could murder yourself to death trying to play it alone, but it is one of the best need-a-teammate games.

See splosion man was a little fun to me, but does it offer local co-op? I can't remember. Also Peggle is amazing, but not too co-op. :P My only complaint with Zombie Apocalypse is that it seemed really shallow. Can you unlock stuff?

Just tried Schizoid and it was definitely fun. However my friend wasn't exactly thrilled with it... Ugh.

You start seeing new weapons as you complete days. There's a few unlockable game modes, too. Not much else, from what I can tell.

N+. You can either play the singleplayer levels together or play 50 levels exclusive to co-op.

Xbox needs a suitable Little Big Planet like time sink game. LBP is likely the ultimate game for people who like just chilling out playing some co-op stuff here and there so long as platformers are a genre that suits them.
