Ethernet cords and Halo 2.

So I've set up my original Xbox in my bedroom because I am feeling very nostalgic (also because my 360 decided to poop out on me for the 192923th time), and I want to pwn teh n00bs online. I'll probably need a 30 to 50 foot cord. Will this affect my online performance? Create more lag?

My favorite shooter of all time is Halo 2, so I'm very curious as to whether anyone still plays online. Is it a barren wasteland? I don't want to spend 20 minutes finding a game. Also, if anyone still plays regularly or wants to pop it back in for the sake of nostalgia, please tell me! I miss double team and team snipers so hard.

I hate you and you hate me.

1: Ethernet cable length should not cause any lag. You are talking about electrical signals traveling at basically the speed of light (186,000 miles per second). HOWEVER, crappy poorly made or damaged cables can allow interference and cause network retransmits and packet loss induced lag. It really shouldn't be an issue however. Also, just get a basic cable in whatever length you need at the cheapest price you can find. http://www.monoprice.com is a good place to find inexpensive cables. Stay away from Best Buy or other local retailers unless you want to get way, WAY overcharged.

    2: I'm not a Halo1/2/3 player so I can't answer this one.

Ask or peruse the thread in g&t for halo/odst, pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere in the 90 odd pages it's at. I think the answer is "yes" halo2 has a big community if I remember someones post right, but man I'm not searching through all that.

You can go to around 300 feet without a repeater unless you have some crazy interference around you or crappy cable. It also depends on the number of bends, but I doubt it'll matter at 50 feet.

Halo 2 is down to roughly 3,000 people a day from 800,000. It's pretty much doing the equivalent of drifting through space at this point. Most everyone moved on to Halo 3. Hasn't recieved a matchmaking update since June 2007.

Your best bets are going to be Team Slayer and Team Training.
