I'm still stuck on Chun trial #3 I think. At least on my laptop, I think I managed it on my 360 but I've been going back through them on my PC just to mess around. I'm trying to get a feel for Chun but I really don't have the Charge mindset down.

I"m not sure it's #3, it's one of the ones where you have to like buffer the charge and there is two crazy links thrown in there too I think.
Ruy is pretty good if you get his high pressure jabs down.
This pretty much applies to every (good) character in Street Fighter.
Also being able to combo into Ultra pretty much puts you in the top tier.
Sakura can ultra starting off of a low short. Does this make her top tier?
No because her Ultra sucks. What is it like 300 damage or something? It's not the only thing that makes characters top tier - but it certainly seems to help.
Anyone here know of any good Ibuki players in SF3? I'm trying ot find some videos to learn her a bit - just started messing around with 3S and it's a lot of fun.

I'm sure it's a problem that only playing against more people will solve, but I'm just not at a level yet where I'm able to incorporate combo's into my game. I'm able to pull them off in a setting where I'm just focusing on the one combo (normal/hard trial challenges), but when I'm in an actual fight, and having to split my focus between spacing, reaction, setting stuff up, etc, it's like my mind craps itself and I don't even think to try and get a combo going.
@Ranadiel Wow Gouken's counter was driving me nuts. I'm not used to having to play that aggressively to get in but I have to say you are using it very well just don't begin to rely on it. You should be using his launcher throw more often and setting up combos from it. Free damage is good damage and having an opportunity to build up stun on the other person is always a good thing.
I don't know much about Gouken but I think those should be some good examples. Another thing you may want to work on figuring out the range of all of his pokes so you don't have to rely on the hadoukens as much (but you use them very very well so why not?) but having improved pokes could save you from taking damage when a counter misses.
Ha, thanks Ed, though I can't help but feel you are being a bit gracious with your critique, especially since I only won 1 match in our 8 games. After the first round against your Sakura I knew that I was going to have to put 110% effort into the fights just to not get completely creamed.
Your Sakura was tough and very aggressive, and your Chun was driving me mad with the cross-ups and chain-ins, and even though I managed to escape a few and counter some I felt like a lot of that was luck, plus I fat-fingered more than a few. Stupid pad.
When you chose Zangief I felt like you were going easy on me, what with all the jumping and no-throws, but you still put me away. I finally decided to go out with a win when I won against your Guile. I've just now been able to start beating defensive Guiles, too.
All in all it was great practice and I can't wait to head off against you again, if you'll have me. And I will study that video and hopefully add a few clever old man tricks to my arsenal.
Oh and as far as the Hadokens go; yes I tend to rely on them a lot and a lot of the time it works in my favor, other times I get a phase-through kick to the face and an ultra up the pooper.
My Zangief doesn't use very many throws. I don't know the priorities well enough to be able to throw them out safely so I only use them to punish whiffed moves or if I dizzy. Basically with Gief I just go for dizzy, cross ups, and big meaty normal attacks.
You neutralized my Guile completely. I should have been more patient and threw out sonic booms but I tried to get in quickly and you anticipated everything well.

I am starting to feel that my Sakura is getting better than my Chun and that doesn't make sense considering the amount of time i've played her.
(edit: hrm yeah already read that one. I don't think it's an absolute truth though. some good points especially the one about not using her throw but others seem a bit much.)

Posts and such are readable, but it really isn't very easy on the eyes, and I have a really hard time reading some of the subtext or whatever on threads that is in black.
Wow. So I've been getting into playing Street Fighter III 3S quite a bit lately. Jumped onto Live and fought some guy about 8 times. He kicked my ass hardcore though.
This game has much stricter input requirements than SFIV, but man is it fun.
Yeah, I'm hoping they get new skins soon. They had like a dozen or so at least on the old forum software, but this new version means they're stuck with the default for now.
