Yes, God hand. Heard of it? Hope you have.
god_hand_announcement.jpg
(Ball-Buster)

Platform: PS2

Plot: You are Gene. Your arm got cut off and replaced with one that contains the power of god. Go beat the shit out of some demons.
That's about it. There's more to it, but the games only 30 bucks, so go buy it and find out yourself

Gameplay: It's a beat-em-up, with a slight twist. 2, actually. After beating the crap out of enough people, your arm glows and you can unleash the power of the godhand, letting you smack people even harder.
Also, the roulette wheel. Press R1, and activate the roulete wheel. Some attacks will come up(the funniest being ball buster, which is exactly what it sounds like) You can get more as the game progresses, like the dragon kick, which launches your enemy into the milky way, and all sorts of shit.

Developer: Clover STudios

    Did anyone else buy this?
    AT least a rental?
    Played at a friends house?
    Played at an enemies house?

Capcom isn't giving out many copies to game rental stores. I guess they want you to buy before you try. So I figure I'll be buying it when it retails for under $20.

$30... I dunno. That can buy a lot of Ramen.

To be honest, I wasn't even going to play it until I saw the video where he fights the fake power rangers.

The Mad Midget Five? Oh, they will piss you the fuck off, but it will be funny when you fight them.

    Game of the Year.

Its a huge, excellent, surprisingly fun joke.

Its a perfect blend of Clover Studios qualities: a sense of humour, knowledge of the history of games, and fun gameplay.

Really, its a great satire of the action genre. Stuff like how the enemies little voice clips dont make any sense at all, or a fighting system which, although extremely basic, just reveals how more "complex" examples of the genre really work.

    Its brilliant.

    IGN review
Anybody else think that IGN has their heads tightly crammed up their assholes?

Oh, and here's something that I need your thoughts on.
Did you guys think that the game started to get to serious towards the end? IT seemed like it actually started getting into it's own story a bit in the last couple of stages.

I personally preferred the first fight with Shannon, mainly because you got to see just how evil she is. Kicking puppies, Chihuaha puppies no less.

    That makes 4, possibly 5...

we only need 4, 999, 995 more to ensure that clover gets more money to make more games...

    And Dead Rising 2.

lol, a 3.0 from IGN... I wasn't going to buy it anyway but I have a real hard time believing it's bad enough to justify that. A reviewer isn't supposed to dock points for not meeting up to hype.

Nothing changes on subsequent playthorughs, except random power-up drops. New Game+ basically opens up endgame moves in the shop from the start of the game. Overall, replayability is pretty much dependent on how much enjoyment you'd get from playing a higher difficulty level. Arena battles (a boss rush mode as much as anything else) and a casino help change things up a bit.

By the way, not knowing about the midget power rangers, I still bought this game on the first day it came out solely on the merits of the gorilla in the luchador mask.

This is next in my que at GameFly. Can't wait for the obsurdness, althogh if I suck too bad I may have to cheat.

I'm all for innovation but why can't developers even come close to the awesomeness of Streets of Rage, Final Fight, TMNT arcade games, etc.? I loathe The Bouncer and even the new TMNT games failed hard at fun gameplay.

Did I miss a game in the last few years? Is this style of gameplay overrun by the Musou type games?

Anyway I look forward to kicking man and woman in the crotch.

I bought this game a few weeks back, and I've played it for an hour or so is all. I really need to devote more time to it. I appreciate the surprising level of challenge to the game, and absolutely love the total randomness of the script. Practically every line has me going huh what? :D

    Bought it.
    Loved it.
Got my friend to buy it.
    He loved it.

I really love all the little extra touches in the game, like how the eunuchs taunt you when you try to ball-punch them or how they let you pound midgets into the ground and them stomp on them. I also like how on normal mode, the difficulty scales to how well you're playing.

Did anybody else who has beaten the game think that the minibosses were harder than the real bosses? Seriously. I had to reset at least 4 times each for the eunuchs, the three retards, and the sensei, but I beat all of the bosses my first or second try...

yeah. The midgets were only hard cuz you get dazed every time they hit you. And there constant ganging up on you. And the sensei was hard because you had to time when to run in if you didn't have god hand, otherwise he'd get you in a death sword combo.

I was playing the game just now. I just beat the Midget Rangers for the second time. I like how they are harder to hit if you activate the God Hand.

After tonight, I won't be able to play much, so I'd like to know if I'm close to the Sensei.
