I once did a self portrait a while back and my father saw it and the first thing he said was "That is one beautiful girl you drew, I would like to date her, hur hur hur" and then I cried myself to sleep

I want someone to embroider a portrait of me onto a pillow so that when I cry myself to sleep, I can also comfort myself.

Going out plein air painting is the best.

    "My Grandmother is a painter"

Hahahah I get comments like that.

"My niece is an artist! She lives in Chicago."

    ".......oh!.....uh......good!"

    "........yeah!"

My favorite question of all time:

"Do you want to be an artist [one day]?" .....like, "maybe one day you'll grow up and get to be an artist"....that's like asking somebody, "oh, you're reading a book? Maybe you'll be a book-reader on day!" or "oh, that's some food you're eating? Yeah, maybe one day you'll get to eat food."

Oh man, Rubber, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've yet to lose anyone remotely close to me yet... Closest I've gotten is a former karate teammate who died of an aneurysm at 22, which was upsetting enough, so I can't even imagine losing a family member. Especially a particularly rad one.

    My condolences :c

I don't know wtf it is, but if anyone catches wind that you have even the slightest interest in art, it always comes around to this.

    IT DOES

If it's so simple then why do you need a professional to do it for you.

I'm only going to become friends with people whose professions benefit me personally.

"What's up Tom, bro, why don't you hook a brother up with one of them EggleMcBagels!"

"Heya Stan, my man, how 'bout hooking up an old friend with a ride to work in your limo?"

"Ah, Kelly, I totally ran out of pants! Why don't you sew me some!" (Sorry, that was sexist) (Double sorry, because I actually don't care, the world is too PC)

It's ok, I knew a dude once named Kelly, so it's not necessarily sexist.

However, I directly correlate the fact that he had a girl's name to the fact that he was the most emotionally removed from the world and therefore boring person I have ever met.

You gotta be friends with everyone then, you never know.

Six years ago, I worked at a small, Episocpal Summer Camp. People from all around the southeast worked there.

One such person was a kinda scatterbrained lifeguard who lived in Tennessee and went to school in Sewanee.

After that summer I didn't see her again until the law school orientation party, the week before classes started here.

Now she's on law review and is dating one of my housemates.

There is still no benefit to you until one of two things happens though.

    A. You get into legal trouble only she can help with.

Zwei: Your housemate breaks up with her and you catch her on the rebound.

or I guess if, like, hundred dollar bills came out of her nose instead of boogers.

I get all these things and in weird places too. Like I normally go to B and N and leech off their resources of art books since a new Art Institute is opening across the street from them. So they have been heftying it up. So I'm drawing and have to tinkle and this lady who was sitting around the tables where I was drawing comes up to me like.

" So my grandma was an artist."

In a public bathroom ,I am getting the illustrious back story to her artistic grandma that got no where but was tragically so very talented.

And I had to PEE. SO BAD.

I think I'm going to force myself to sit here, and draw for five continuous hours. Only taking breaks to use the bathroom, and get a drink. I've made up my mind that it doesn't matter what I draw, or how it turns out. I'm going to just sit and draw, and then post the results as proof!

Seriously, I need to start forcing myself to draw more often, if only to get into the habit of doing so regularly.

I have been, ya fuckin' goof.:P

I'm just taking a micro break before I go to take a leak, and get back to doodlin'. I just want to say that trying to render shiny, or polished metal is fucking hard. After I'm done with this rough, I might try to look up some tutorials on how to paint and render it more accurately, and easily. I'm almost certain I'm approaching it all wrong, but I'm determined to finish this rough value sketch before I go any further.

    Now back to the drawing!

EDIT - If anyone knows of any such tutorials off the top of their head, then linking 'em in the meanwhile would be a nice time saver for me. I may even thank you with doodles just for you!!
