301 error: Location moved

Lately, I often get this error when trying to go to the forums (even when following the main PA page link). The URL I'm using is www.penny-arcade.com/forums. The location where the site has supposedly moved to is www.penny-arcade.com/forums. Once it follows that the forums load up fine. Not a big problem but just wondering what would cause something like that? This is the only site I go to where this happens.

    I am not seeing a difference between either of those links.

    I do have a 404 redirect that redirects all deadlinks to the index. I will need a screenshot and\or different links to be of much more help :wink:

    That's the point. Why would it produce such an error if I'm using the same URL anyway?

    Those links point to '/forums.' not '/forums' or '/forums/'

    Psst. I think he was just ending his sentences and not actually including the periods in the url.

    I believe 301 is used when you go to a directory.

    ie. go friom /forums to /forum/

    Normally it's transparent to the uses though.
