And the new may have started last Friday, but as far as I'm concerned, this is the first true Week o Games of the new year, and the new decade!
And what a way to kick it off with Platinum Games' new
HD console action game,
Bayonetta. It's like a crazy third person action/brawler in which you play as a witch who uses guns, magic spells, and her hair as a weapon! It looks pretty badass. If you own both consoles get the 360 version.
The
HD consoles also get
Darksiders. It's a game that the devs have touted as a kind of "dark" sort of Legend of Zelda style game, but honestly the previews and initial info we have is that it isn't really like Zelda at all. Doesn't mean it's not good though! Reviews have been positive so far. Apparently you play as one of the horsemen of the apocalypse and ride around on a huge warhorse wrecking havoc.
Not much else this week except Borderlands DLC and Final Fight 3 for virtual console. Matt Hazard, the duke nukem parody, comes to the digital distro services too in some kind of retro style action game, if anyone cares.
Spring 2010 is going to be one of the biggest and best springs in recent memory. Bayonetta kicks things off a tad early, but there are plenty of awesome things to come in the following weeks as well! Stay tuned!

Oh and Matt Hazard? Sweet. Have to check that out. I loved the game.
In the morning anyways
Darksiders looks awesome but will have to wait, unfortunately! Money in future weeks is already diverted to Heavy Rain and Dark Void
I was going to get Dark Void but Im sort of afraid to now for some reason. Theres so many games I want and as much as I did want that originally it just suddenly dropped from my list when I realized the money I would need for everything heh. Luckily I dont like Mass Effect so thats dropped. And Heavy Rain Ill wait on for a bit to see if Ill like it. ButDarksiders I may get....and Army of Two is some sweet ass co-op so I may have to grab that to play with my friend. Also Splinter Cell shit...Oh god Im done. I hate thinking about these next 3 months any more than I need to.
Considering the first sold like absolute shit
Man, I actually contributed to those sales...*shudder*
FUCK.
I'm in line for Heavy Rain and Splinter Cell too.
Welp, time for a second job.

I'd like to pick up Darksiders at some point, but it probably won't be this week. In fact, maybe not this month or anytime soon. I don't know.
All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
Didn't you play the first?
I did, had fun. Really, I only play it for the co-op with my brother. The same reason I liked RE5 even though people just shat all over it.
Why did I sign up for the backlog challenge with this spring coming? AM I MAD?
Thanks.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
On that note, I saw both games on display tonight at Target. I was this close from getting Bayonetta but the girl at the register told me that the computer said it comes out tomorrow. Damn machines!
Electronic composer for hire.
Kotaku announced it first, and I think they made a mistake. But we'll see.
Yeah stuff like this is kind of tentative. we'll see.

I'm also picking up Bayonetta this week. And maybe Darksiders. There's something about the aesthetic of that one that's not as appealing to me as it could have been.

Indeed. When it came down to it I decided to go with Bayonetta because of the Japanese craziness.

So, Bayonetta, first big hyped up title of the year. In the first week no less. I'm counting on you guys to let me know how full of needless crotchshots and innuendo this game is.
So full.
Like, full as in your screen is just covered in it or she's standing on the arms of your chair, shoving her crotch into your face?
She actually does shove her crotch in an angel's face at one point, but I think that's after she german suplexes a bunch of other ones.
Read what you just said.
I suppose in the sequel she'll be scissoring angels. Y'know, to keep that edginess going.
:? Have no idea what you're talking about, but sure.
I've always poked at the needless sexuality of Bayonetta, don't mind me. :P

I don't mind an over the top game, but they seem to be attempting to sell this game solely on its naked female librarian and overt sexualization.
Hey, at least it's still going to be better than Dante's Inferno and it's baby demon spewing nipples. Bleh.

I can respect that opinion. It's definitely not for everyone. I've always loved the DMC games a great deal, so I came to Bayonetta mostly for it's Japanese insanity. I'll admit I also like the character design of Bayonetta and her British accent.
Sadly, I may agree with you about Dante's. The only thing I enjoyed about the demo were the hand-drawn 2D cutscenes, and the decent framerate. Everything else seemed lacking to me, and I was looking forward to it after Dead Space. I'm on the fence on that one.

Can't say I care much for Dante's Inferno, either. But in its defense I don't care much for GoW which it seems to be trying to emulate.
Yea, I'm sure Bayonetta will be a decent game, but I don't necessarily respect the way they are going about it. I hope you like it though, it does look like a crazy suped up version of Devil May Cry.
Dante's Inferno though, it is one of the few games I truly hope fails...for many reasons.
Out of all the Platinum/Sega library of upcoming games, the only one that really gets my attention is Infinite Space. It's a space opera warfare strategy sim type game that is all about building your own fleet of ships one piece at a time. It's like Gran Turismo for space sci fi geeks. I so cannot wait to play it, and supposedly has a very deep story along with the awesome gameplay.

The only thing I'm uncertain of is if I should get the 360 or PS3 version for Darksiders. Any insight on this? I haven't seen any comparisons made yet, so they must be pretty equal.
Pretty sure this has been said to death now, but the 360 version is said to have some minor graphical tearing issues. That's about it.
