Did Spherick die? Haven't seen him post. I SUMMON YOU.
In other news, my wolf lord (canis conversion) is almost done. This is actually harder than the Doomwheel I painted up earlier. It's 45 pounds and a bitch to hold and paint. Ugh. Once that's done I have lots of marines! WHOO!!!!!
I sympathize. That bitch is not fun to paint, but if you do a good job, it turns out nice.

Interesting note. On page 26 of the Tyranid codex, the Guardsmen firing into the sky are Death Korps. Complete with Macharius tanks and towed Earthshaker guns. Neat because I think that's the first time entirely Forgeworld invented models have worked their way into the fluff story drawings we see in the codeci. (Stuff that was FW but given rules in a GW codex don't count.)
Ha, I didn't notice that until you pointed that out. That's kind of neat. Speaking of nids, y'know, when you keep all your models neatly stored away, you really forget how much stuff you actually have. There's about 8" of open shelf not shown, but when I get my ripper swarms, Space Hulk stealers, and the inevitable trygon, mawloc, and tyrranofex finished, that shelf is going to be completely stuffed with Tyranids.
I think my favorite part about the codex is the Tau vs Hive Fleet Gorgon. Tyranids that constantly adapt to the Tau, to the point where they unleash hormagaunts immune to pulse rifles.
Then the Imperial Guard shows up to take back one of their worlds, comes in with weapons very different from the tau, and fucks up all their adaptions they made.
Don't be jealous, just be like me and nearly drive yourself crazy spending a couple months painting all those gaunts nonstop (it also helps to be stuck in the mountains, in Japan, in a small town where there's nothing to do in the winter).
It's unfortunate that the part about the Necrons showing up was actually done really lamely in execution, because the idea was just hilariously awesome.

Just going through the new Tyranid book and I am quite liking the idea of an "IC Assassin squad" of a couple of Warriors in a Mycetic Spore, all armed with twin boneswords. Maybe joined by a Tyranid Prime?
Essentially, they drop down beside some annoying IC that is tearing up the place, let the Spore eat his bodyguard and then pounce on him and force many invulnerable saves and/or ID Ld checks.
Well, I now have a Trygon and a Venomthrope in addition to the Codex. I'm really really liking the Venomthrope model. Haven't had a chance to put together the Trygon yet as I had a party sprung on me. I did get to talk nerdy and oggle the Forgeworld Lord of Change though. Thing is big.

Got my 'nid codex yesterday along with a Trygon and a box of Gargoyles. Of course that now means that I have to completely reconfigure my army so I can actually play with it...
The Doom of Malan'tai should be fun; get him a drop pod and drop him in the middle of a bunch of low leadership troops, he'll drain a load of wounds off them then him and his spore can shoot at whatever's most dangerous. Then when it gets to the opponents shooting phase he'll drain a load of wounds off them again!
A Tervigon could also be fun if you stick it in a troop slot and park it on an objective, spawning gaunts. Speaking of which I don't really like the GW design so what do you guys think of this:
Lets say I have a single dude in terminator armor, with just a power weapon. He's WS4 S4.
He attacks a new carnifex which I believe are Toughness 7.
Let's assume I gave him melta bombs as well (wolf guard can do this).
Could I forgo my CCW attacks for a single melta attack at weaponskill? See, it sounds more reasonable to do this since I'm rolling 6s to wound on 2/3 attacks vs a 2 on the melta bomb. Am I overlooking something?
Melta Bombs can only be used against stuff with an amour value, same as krak grenades.
Also, assuming it was, like, a looked carnifex or something that did have an AV, as a walker you'd still be looking at 6s to hit.
GW has said that they intend it to be made with parts from the Fex kit and the Tervigon kit. A wonderful business decision :P

The following people are amazing and I love them: Wildcat, Timspork, Kias, Denada, susan, Sharp101, [GHSC]Ryctor, Matev, Matrias, ItBurns, Slapnuts, Dayspring, see317, and the unknown poster that sent me a box of Death Company! If you get them as Santees you should buy them amazing things!
They want a kit to not come with what it's supposed to come with, and that you need to buy another kit, that's probably going to double the price by buying it, so you can make one model, that to play requires shit loads of gaunts?
Seems like they're gonna have a money train rollin' in.

Hah, I've just got a big bag of gaunt bases to use as spawned gaunts, if pressed I guess I could glue a slimy ripper to them and say their 'immature' gaunts or soemthing...

I suspect they will sell a Tervigon box which contains a Tervigon sprue and just enough 'fex sprues to make one complete Tervigon with a few spare bitz.
Like the Sky Ray box.
Only slightly less likely to include a complete Carnifex kit by accident because of the way the parts are arranged on the sprues.
So, I've been looking into building walker tanks, it doesn't seem to be to hard really. I just have a few questions for everyone, just to gather some opinions.
If I built one of these, and he stood half again as tall as a normal tank, but had a footprint the size of a dread, would there be conflict? Should I try to make him "in stride" so the legs extended out and created about the same footprint as a normal space marine tank?
I know the rules say you can make a base bigger, but I'm just not sure if its acceptable to take a tank, and give it a base the size of a dread, while making up for it with height (there for making it more visible over taller LOS blocking terrain).

I've just built my Trygon, I've got to say that it's a lovely kit but I'm not sure if it knocks the 'fex off as my favourite. Either way it's a great, imposing model and it'll make a great centerpiece. I've pinned the mandibles so I can swap it between a Trygon and a Trygon Prime as is necessary and I'm gonna use the left over Mawloc bitz to convert a Zoanthrope into the 'Doom of Malan'tai.'

Tanks don't come with bases, so you don't have to officially worry about that(I have never seen any actual restriction on hull size). That being said, I would say as long as its roughly the size of a tank, even if its tall instead of long, you probably won't have a problem. If its 24" tall and 1" wide, or 1" tall and 1" wide, you may get people complaining.
What's the difference between a Trygon and a Prime, looks-wise?
Beefier mandibles and a rattlesnake tail instead of a poison barb, though there are three tail options so you could go with the grippy-claw bit if you wanted.
In other news, my 1850 list now costs 1812 under the new book. Time to give those Raveners their spinefists back!

Heh, made me think of the caterpillar move in WHFB.
Take a unit of, say, 40 goblins in 5x8 formation.
They reform to 40x1, stretching across the table.
Then they reform again to 5x8... on the other side.
I hear this is when reform rules got clarified. :P
@Anon: I think this falls into the category of "If its really cool and fits in your army, you don't wanna be playing anyone that complains about it anyways"

Fair enough, I'm really hell bent on modeling my army to be a rapid assault force, everything mechanized to get up in the enemies face as fast as possible and converted to look like its either pre-heresy (and there for advanced) tech, or to move faster. Thus the walker tanks, so they can "run" and move more easily through urban environments. Of course they will have no fancy rules or homebrew stuff to make it "lame".
I do need more sentinel legs though, if anyone has any of the jointed legs laying around, I'd be glad to buy them off ya.
Any Dark Angels players have spares of the bit on the right? I need a couple.

TWO custom dreadnoughts?
I have to admit, "Furioso Supremo" sounds like a taco bell menu item.
I think its cool really, I hope the expand that into more chapters. Giving you more options then just "special commander choice #342" I also like how they got a super fancy librarian.
I suppose Blood Angels will get a couple commanders, librarian, and hopefully a Chaplin. Where as Black Templars will get two Chaplins, a couple commanders, and maybe a techmarine...since we don't get librarians and all.

Tankard? You'll have to refresh my memory since that does not give me even the slightest idea of what you mean.
Or you're joking, and it went right over my head, since, again....I don't get the reference. But it had better be cool, cause you're talking about my Templar's here.
