What is Taikodom?:
Taikodom is a free massively-multiplayer (MMO) that takes place in a sci-fi universe where earth has used up all its resources, and then was forced to live in space because their world is becomming inhospitable. The game is fully 3D and the combat is similar to games like Freespace, you choose a career, choose a ship, and then launch out into the stars to make something of yourself.
The game is currently in english beta, and the english speaking population at the moment is low since the english version of the game was just released. Everyone plays on the same server. Anyhow lets see if we can all have fun together on this one.

Non yet! We all just started, so we are working on it.
Our official meeting spot if we all want to get together for killins' is the planet Uranus.
Game tips:
Q shoots your launcher, shft+# changes active launcher.
R turns sensors on and off.
I changes from 3rd person view to cockpit view and back.
1 unit of ammo is 1000 shots, not 1 shot.
Space is to cut engines for fast turning. Great for hotshots.
Apparently it will cost 1 mil to create a corp of our own. So i suggest we shack up with another corp (there are a lot ) and play it by ear till we can manage it. Any ideas are welcome.
So far Elimination has been the only person I've seen so far to speak English.
Also the only problems I've had with the interface is that the quest text isn't always fitting into its box.
The only thing I don't like about the game, and it just takes getting used to, is that the game uses the old sloppy follow the cursor style control in that your ship follows the firing cursor around lazily. I know plenty of other games have done it this way but I've always liked the Wing Commander style where you always fire forward and your nose moves directly in tune with the controller.
It's a minor quibble. I'm also insane in that I am playing it with a CH Products Fighterstick.
Edit: Even with this small problem this was the most fun I've ever had in an MMO.
Seidkona on
Mostly just huntin' monsters.

Talk to the dude in a station that looks like some kind of purple robot, he resides in a lot of stations. And he will fix your ships.
Also for those who don't know there are "rank ups" and that is how skills work. So the skills system is not like eve's, the game plays more like a cross between Freelancer and EvE.
Just FYI the english version -just- came out so there will be little nuisances once and a while but for me so far its been nothing super annoying. The game is well worth it regardless, i've also been seeing more and more english players popping up now, i group with a whole bunch last night in a squadron and had some fun. I assume it will probably grow exponentially once all the Freelancer fans get wind of it.
Yeah I logged out with the box and when I went back it went away so send it again. But I doubt I'll be back on tonight, my head is killin me cause of meds.
I feel like im han solo when doing those delivery missions However i suck at fighting...suck like im shooting them im hitting the enemy with my ship and then ow shit i died and why i have T$ -200
Ok, fixed the refresh rate thing by changing it to windowed mode which still plays fullscreen but without the hugenormous borders. Pretty good so far, playing as BlueDestiny in a bomber. Dunno how to make my turret work though, maybe I have to buy one?
Is anyone elses screen space extremely small? There seem to be thick black borders making the view pointlessly blocked.
Weird, doesn't do that to me. check your settings?
Everything is at my usual graphics settings, 1024x768 85 hz refresh rate. Still has inch-thick extra borders.
EDIT: Huh, when I alt-tabbed back in, it briefly removed the borders then flickered and put them back. Perhaps the refresh rate isn't saving properly?
Thats a really low resolution. Maybe it is the refresh rate? Try running it in windowed? I run mine in windowed all the time.
Edit: Turrets work automatically. Fly by somone in your bomber and when they come at you from behind or below it will start shooting at them. It's pretty great because bombers maneuver like schoolbus's compared to fighters and scout ships.
Also i am now in game, add Ace Damage to contacts if you want to group up...i know i could use some help on this mission, i just got whooped.

I get to the part where it says to use the terminal and it just hangs there with the picture of the blue cryo things in the back, and won't do anything....

Yeah, it did the same for me too. I forced the program to close, and found that the windows firewall had been asking me whether or not to let the game connect to the internet. Tried a second time (in windowed mode), and it still froze at that part, but then got past it after about half a minute or so.
I get a lot of several-second freezes sometimes, though, when opening / choosing a menu option for the first time, and things like that. Makes things like character creation a bit tedious, but doesn't tend to get in the way of dog fighting and whatnot.

This part froze up on me for a couple of minutes, but once it went through it was smooth sailing afterward.
Definitely not the most polished game, but I would agree it is very much like Freelancer. Which is a very, very good thing.
So this game is pretty much MMO Freelancer, it even has the "Cut engines" function so you can do strafing runs or spin around and shoot up chasers. I've only played a little so I don't know what the endgame is, but I'm hoping its something like territory control in PvP space.
So uh my rockets I can't shoot them. Somebody get me some space viagra.
Also they managed to make the docking bay so terrible my ship looks like a toy even when in space now.
Rockets are shit. We were discussing how none of us can figure out what role rockets play since they miss like 100% of the time. Missles seem much better.

How many play? (approx)
Other than that, reminds me strongly of Freelancer. I loved Freelancer, so a freelancer-type MMO intrigues me.

I added you to contacts, click the orange blinking box down at the bottom of the screen to accept.

How are you getting it into window mode?
I think I'm going to try bomber tomorrow night and see how that is.
