My wife has absolutely no interest in gaming. She falls asleep while I'm playing TF2 or L4D.

    She's a keeper.

New faces in a familiar setting:

When there was a panic event in the sewers those fucking mudmen from Swamp Fever started swarming out of the small tunnels D:

Edit: This place has every L4D1 campaign except the rural town one.

I wonder if Valve will ever fix that gap by the stairs in Dead Center scavenge. I just got to enjoy the full extent of how cheap it is playing against a stacked team. That kind of thing is just annoying.

It's next to the top of the stairs in the last map of Dead Center (aka Dead Center scavenge). There is a small gap in the railings that you can be pushed over. It is also possible to accidentally walk off there when you are going for the stairs if you are blinded or walking backwards, etc. It just feels cheap when infected exploit it, and generally annoying when you slip up and fall there. Because it is such a small area, it is easy to forget about it when you are playing survivor, as everywhere else in the map has barriers.

well i mean, being up that high is dangerous in any case, as if the survivors get knocked from a good charge it's an instant kill
i've not seen it exploited too much, but did witness a pretty crazy smoker pull once. the chances are slim though, and if the glass is broken the upper area is crazy dangerous to a smart jockey (i've incapped all 4 survivors off the side using a jockey on both DC and the sugar mill in HR)

Oh... i guess so. But, being so small you'd think it would be hard for the infected to properly take advantage of as long as the survivors are somewhat close together and playing like survivors should.

Yet when you play the Swamp Fever finale, you can't charge off people on the 2nd story balcony of the mansion and kill them.

Hell, you can't even incap them.

It's so dumb and stupid and makes me dislike l4d2 more and more.

Yea but it's like 2.5 floors cause it's on the stairs AND it's insta kill.

The mansion should at least be an incap.

It's pretty fucking stupid when I charge a guy straight off the balcony, down 2 stories and land ontop of him... yet he doesn't even incap OR take fall damage.

    So dumb.

If you charge someone off the third floor does it even damage the survivor? The instant kill is when you charge and knock the survivors (the ones you don't grab) over the railing.

So the charger picks up a survivor, gently cradles them in his one muscular arm during the fall down and, after landing light as a feather, he proceeds to beat the hell out of them?

The majestic clarity of the freefall clears his mind of rage.

But then they hit the ground and he catches the survivor staring at his hilariously tiny floppy arm.

I have to say, and it pains me to do so, I really prefer L4D1 over 2. The atmosphere in 1 just hands-down destroys the atmosphere in 2. All the outdoor environments in 2 seem bland and repetitive, the neverending panic events basically turn the game into something that is just not fun to play, the survivors in 1 were more endearing, and the sense of dread that one got from existing in that world has been co-opted by the sense of ZOMGZOMBIESPANICSHOOTSHOOT.

It feels like they made the first game by accident, and their corrections to that formula in the sequel have transformed it into something other than what I thought it was (and enjoyed).

I agree with you for the most part but the biggest difference in the atmosphere is because L4D was intended from the beginning as a 4 man survivor co-op experience and VS was hacked in partway through while L4D2 was built off of L4D with fixing the VS problems of L4D being their main focus.

I hadn't expected them to change that much. Even with the demo I was unimpressed with the first two levels of Parish compared to No Mercy.

First two levels of Dead Center would've been a better pick for the demo in my opinion.

I thought it was the other way round; the commentary said something like VS was the original idea, but they changed to co-op.

Then again that could just mean that they changed before developing the maps and all.

I believe if he hits him though he'll either knock the hunter off or kill him outright. I have been killed as a hunter during a Charger charge. It was hilarious, but it may have hurt our chances that game. D:

It's not about taking the game so seriously, it's getting completely rolled every game.

I mean winning isn't everything, i'd be fine with losing all the time but by a slight margin.

Losing 1000 points to 200 points is a little ridiculous though.
