I don't know if this is in the right forum but since its tech related i'll try here.
Right im currently doing an illustration course at university and I have a project which involves using an article from a newspaper. My article is about computer rage (rage as in anger, flipping out vented aggression towards things)
(Basically the article was very basic but there was a term used called 'mouse rage' which was people getting stressed with viewing websites and throwing their mouse at the screen)
So if anyone would like to help (and i'd much appreciate) have any personal experiences of rage towards technology that i can use as a starting point for my project?
i get modem rage a lot. Our internet frequently dies, for whatever reason (dodgy wiring, faulty modem, something on my pc that hates the internet, or a stupid, lousy ISP), but this thing can drop off at any time. Sometimes it'll come back on and work fine for hours, other times it'll just drop every 2 minutes and be completely unusable.
This often sends me into a flurry of expletives that would make a tourrettes sufferer look twice.
The Rage was ATi's first main foray into graphics cards, where it competed fairly decently but was basically an also-ran compared to 3DFX. It does have the distinction of being the series with the first dual-GPU card, the Rage Fury Maxx, which was overpriced and underpowered for the money. As far as I know, there's been no dual-GPU card after that until nVidia decided to try with the 7950GX2, which was also overpriced and underpowered for the money.
The Rage line, like every other graphics card of the time, was rendered (no pun intended) completely and embarrasingly obsolete when the GeForce 256 was released, although ATi still uses the chip for 2D acceleration in some server motherboards.
This one time after mashing my hand raw on a Mario Party 3 game which I lost by a hair I delicately placed the N64 controller on the carpetted floor and then castrated myself.
I broke a keyboard in half once... but it had nothing to do with being angry at the computer... A younger me had anger issues and my girlfriend was being a total smat.

I used to nearly twist my NES controller in HALF when I had trouble with games. I've also bloodied my hand by PUNCHING my PC and monitor at work. Nothing ever happened to the PC or monitor, but my hand really hurt. I think employers need to make sure that the PCs that their employees are using are working properly and not too slow. There's nothing worse than working on a slower-than-dirt computer for 8 hours straight.
I twisted a $25 Dual Shock 2 in half once out of sheer fury. I don't mean cracked it, or made a crease, I fucking NegCon'd it. One piece was in each hand.
After that I was pretty angry at myself for destroying a controller.
I think that is the only time I have ever had "technology rage" that manifested itselfphysically, or even as anything more than a string of obsceneties that would make a sailor blush.
I never get angry. If I get angry feelings I just bottle them up and hope to one day explode in a burst of fury and anger like the Hulk. That's right, I wanna be the Hulk.
My patience is lauded by all who know me. I'm not being egotistical here, I'm just setting this up for you.
The only times I have ever flipped out and got really pissed (wall punching pissed) was when I was working with computers. The problem is that computers are so complex, yet so simple. The likelyhood that a computer, particularly a Windows computer in the late 90s, early 00s would suddenly STOP WORKING or start doing something weird was incredibly frustrating. Before I learned what spyware was and how to prevent it, I was plagued by slow performance despite top of the line hardware.

Wasn't the virus from 28 Days Later named Rage and from England?
I KISS YOU!
Is it computers not working?
Is it people becoming angry and throwing their computers out the window in rage?

Also, there is a German boy who is terrible at Unreal Tournament.

Im actually looking for personal experiences rather than funny or extreme cases shown online, but thanks for the info.
Um, sometimes I smack the computer in the hopes that it will help like it did on my old TV. It doesn't :x

Oh, and please if anyone has more stories involving sheer rage to a beloved or hated device please share.

That a better example?
