Battleswarm: Massively Multiplayer Strategy / FPS?
Posts
I wonder how balanced it's going to be; presumably the RTS guy can see the whole battlefield while the FPS team will only be able to control small areas at a time.
Still, I'm intrigued. I'd give this a whirl.
There's been many mods and games in the past like Natural Selection that combined RTS and FPS, it worked just fine, in fact it was awesome! Glad there is one more.
(Weird how I can't edit)
In fact it seems the game IS out, I'm creating an account as I speak :P

hey, me, too
but only because you gave the link
The site only says 99 players online though. Fuck.
Downloading now, name's MechMantis (predictably). Probably gonna play both sides, see which one I like more.
Although maybe we should get together a Human group.
Damn guys, we've been had by a spambot. Reporting, I'll probably get a new thread up later.
Echo says "Says who?", then promptly deletes his post when he looks at the guy's post history.
Mods.
So one side plays an FPS while the other side plays an RTS? That sounds kind of like motherfucking Natural Selection and Brutal Legend.
I wish I had money to build a PC. I love Action/RTS hybrids.
I downloaded it and tried it.
It was pretty shitty.
Didn't control very well. A lot of grinding to get anything good, aliens play really shitty, alien ai is pretty crappy, and theres like 20 people playing so it's next to impossible to actually get into a match.
Honestly just play NS. It's way better.
I never asked for this!
I smell a sitcom!
My friend tells me this game is a cool idea with sub-par execution.
Yup.
Shitty in the extreme.
Bad. Terrible.
I wanted so much for this game to be awesome. But it wasn't. But hey, it was free.
Not enough people in this thread have played Natural Selection. This has been done before.
In natural selection, it's Aliens vs Marines. The Marines pick one commander who can be booted if he sucks. The Command sees everything in RTS vision, builds structures, and provides upgrades and intel to the other Marines. The Marines build his structures and fight the aliens.
The aliens are hive minded and do not need a commander.
Which is yet another "spend real money to buy points that you can use to buy stuff in games" system.
If playing video games has taught me anything, it's that a good impression does not equal a good execution.
