Fist of the North Star Dynasty Warriors: Are you already dead?

So, there's Fist of the North Star. A Manga that ran for years that asked the question: "What if Bruce Lee was a 7 foot superman dressed as Mad Max, running around righting wrongs and punching people so their heads explode after a nuclear apocalypse?"

Adapted to TV series, Theatrically released movie, awful US live action movie, prequel series, and more movies, I saw the movie at 12 years old and fell in love. Ultra Violent for it's time, alusions to Shakespeare, violence, over the top stoicism played straight, violence, telling people they are already dead.

Whats not to love?

It's retarded, but I love it

So there's Dynasty warriors, where you play someone on a battle field in one of China's romantic periods and chop the fuck out of hundreds of people per level with your sword. Spin offs have been set in 1500's Japan and the gundam universe. I'm not a huge fan, but I get a little fun out of them. Apart from the Gundam one where I just didn't like it.

And now I have to buy this day one if it ever comes out outside Japan:

    I have been following this game like pedos followed emma watson's 18th birthday countdown.

    Playable raoh means this game will have to be incredibly ridiculous considering he just accidentally bumps into you and your skeleton flies out of your mouth.

    I'm in euroland and the Gundam game made it here. Hoping against hope the same things happens as I'm on 360.

    Frankly, I'm sick of the closest to the only Fist of the North Star game I can access being God Hand.

    And I love me some God Hand.

    I can't wait. I think the first thing I'll be doing is replacing whatever music is in the game with the original series soundtrack. Although I do wonder if they'll have a new version of Ai o Torimodose especially for the game.

    Also it's going to have the full storyline from Shin saga right up to the battle with Raoh AND a second non canon storyline from what I read when it was announced.

    Also hey, new screens!

    They have a screenshot there that looks like playable HNK2 era Lynn with a crossbow. If they're going to go that far they're going to have Toki and Raoh in there.

    Since I'm not a big anime watcher I've never seen this series - heard of it, but never seen it. Maybe some good ol' fashioned head-popping martial arts action might breathe some kind of new life into the DW formula. Then again, it might not. I'm mulling over whether to start watching some episodes on Funimation's site, since they have the whole series on there free to watch.

    The original Hokuto series is fun for its 80s cheesyness and the fact that you can always rely on the same four-step formula in every episode.

    1) Kenshiro walks somewhere like a badass
    2) Some evil dude does something evil that threatens something good
    3) Owae wa mo shindeiru
    4) Kenshiro walks away like a badass.

    Repeat.

    The film is a great condensed version if you just want the plot. Also consider the newer OAVs, which are quite good.

    Don't forget that nearly every major villain will reveal their somewhat tragic backstory as they die which somehow redeems them. No matter how much of a bastard they were.

    I don't think anyone can enjoy FOTN without enjoying the cheesyness.

    Good threads are hard to find in a post-apocalyptic world.

    It would be nice if the game also cover the land of shura arc, but I don't think it's going to be that big.
