So it seems that my graphic card is currently at 80 degrees on idle... is there anyway to lower this temperature? (I've got a 450W PSU, which may be the problem and I'll probably have to upgrade in the coming days...)
The power supply would only affect the temperature if it's increasing the case's ambient temperature, but probably not by much. Make sure there isn't a lot of dust.
Also, a lot of new cards that don't have large fans/heatsinks run fairly hot. My roommate has an ATI 4850, and so do I, but his cooler is only one slot wide, mine is 2. His card idles about your temperature while mine hovers around 55. I'm also running Windows 7 which probably raises the idle temp since there's 3d acceleration going on all the time.
You can probably find a third party cooler if it's bothering you that much. What card is it?
Its an ATI 5770, I've got like 5 slots and it is basically taking up 2 right now (inputs + exhaust). It's only 2 months old so I can't imagine too much dust has accrued, but I'll probably take a look this weekend.
