    Hahaha.

Nice avatar and signature by the way, UV.

Really tempted to go with the special edition, but between the last few special editions I have gotten I am not sure if I have the shelf space at all.

If I actualy wanted all the stuff in the special eddition, then it would be a spectacularly good deal. but as I'd only be intereded in the art book, the extra $40 just isn't worth it for me personaly.

Just had an email from Zavvi (I'm in the UK) saying they've dispatched my copy. Here's hoping they've managed to ship it over a week early for some reason! Anyone else ordered the "Rapture Edition" from them had the same email?

    Special Edition Unboxing

Worth an extra $40? I think so. This is like kicking Ubisoft, BioWare and Sony Santa Monica right in the balls - and while the other studios are down there on the tile, helplessly cradling their mangled junk, 2K seethes at them; "Now this is a special edition!"

I gotta give them credit for going all out on the uber edition and breaking shit.

The free version of Bioshock with the Bioshock 2 deal on steam sealed it for me. I have the 360 one, but I thought it would be great to have a nice, high res version. I was going to get the collector's edition, but I really can't justify the cost.
I really wish GFWL was attached to the first one. I would like to add onto my achievements.

The Big Sister looks more or less completely impossible to kill. Whatever and whoever the thing is, it's got psychic powers strong enough to manipulate the flow of water at the bottom of the seabed. How you're supposed to eventually kill it is beyond me.

I guess it'll be fun finding out.

Firstly, lets make it clear that i'm very eager for Bioshock 2. I absolutely loved the first one, so dont put this down as hate.

Is it just me or is the new big daddy design and little sister look just....Not as good as Bio1. The Big daddy in bio1 had a lumbering not quite human quality while the new suit looks like a guy in a suit...the little sisters...I cant quite place exactly whats wrong...oh wait...its because the faces on them look more then a little...well..manish or overlarge.

Well given that that big daddy is the prototype, and that big daddys are infact guys in diving suits it doesnt strike me as strange thatthats what he looks like. Plus you are playing as this one, and him being a lumbering mindless tank might not work well for the game. I cant really say i see much wrong with the little sisters face, it look more expressive than the one in the trailer for the original in my opinion.

lol, well the point of the "new" big dady is to look like a more agile and less lumbering automiton of a big dady. That' exactly what the main character is. He's the prototype big dady. So he is more lovingly crafted (not the production line big dadies that we see guarding the little sisters), and more finess than brute strength (well, comparativly speaking).

And I'm not sure what to think about the little sisters in the new one. They seemed more inocent looking in the 1st game. They look much more mischevious in the 2nd. But that makes some sense, if for nothing more than the perspective change. In game one they are suposed to be viewed and "inocence" that must be restored, or "inocence" to be taken. They were meant to illicit pitty. In Bioshock 2, they're your "partners in crime" so to speak. You are a part of their system, a part of their eternal "game". So now they look a little more... sociable to you I guess.

[edit] And was that "Praise The Lord, and Pass the Ammunition" playing during the trailer? o_O

If there was something like a stealth system in Bioshock 2, I'd be all over it. I'd love to take a more stealthy approach to exploring Rapture. Then again, while stealth would've worked in the first game, it wouldn't really make sense for a Big Daddy, even a prototype, to be stealthy.

Between that and the Security Tag plasmid and Turret/Camera hacking, you can go pretty far without direct gun battles. As for actual sneaking, like being able to walk with that upgrade, would be cool but I'm sure would "break" the game even further in terms of being too easy.

I was really hoping for an honest to god ability to be the different splicers. Yea you can be a thug/lead head in the first, but I wanted to be a freaking spider splicer or a houdini splicer in the second.

Houdini wouldn't be that hard. Just have a plasmid that makes you entirley invisible that you can toggle on and off, and while your invisible it eats big chunks of your eve. Heck, you could have a power that makes you walk on the cieling or do a high powered leap attack and *bang* spoider splicer.

I guess I'll have to settle for having a diesel powered drill instead :P

One of the confirmed Plasmids for Multiplayer is a Houdini Splicer cloak. In fact this is exactly what you describe, except it doesn't take chunks of eve when you're invisible, it just keeps draining while it's active.

lol, that's what I meant, is that it constantly drains. By "chunks" I just meant that it takes a lot of adam raealy fast. I just phrased it poorly. Very cool, I'm glad to see that is in there in some capacity.

You sure, I went back and listened a few times, and the bit where the big dady is wrecking splicers in the ball room is definatly the same music as the "praise the lodr and pass the amunition" part of that song.

Was that song maybe just new words put to "baby won't you please come home"?

well first of all, if there were no improvements over the 1st you should get it becuase the first one was spectacular ;).

The main thing they've mentioned is that they've altered the hacking system to be real time, and by extension, quicker. so it doesn't pull you out of the gameplay and such. Basicaly, other than that I guess, nothing in the 1st bioshock was "broken", so there's been no need to "fix" it.

Plus you have a freaking giant killy power auger to kill things with, what more do you need? :D
