so I'm in the market for a laptop computer. I've recently come to terms with the fact that I don't know much about computer specifically their inner workings so I've come to you people to help me decide on one. it has to be an apple though.

I don't play computer games and I use my computer for pretty basic functions. namely:
browsing the web
watching movies
downloading music/movies
archiving/ altering photos
visual art type stuff with photoshop and a tablet
thaaaats pretty much it

also it needs to have a pretty good sized screen and plenty of storage space.

I'd like to spend no more than a thousand bucks. so what computer should I get H/A?

Hmm yeah if it has to be a laptop, an Apple, and under $1000, then you've pretty much narrowed it down to "white or black?"

ed: the macbooks are still plastic, yeah?

This. You spend a little over $1k, but I think its worth it. I have one for work (even though I don't do graphics stuff) and I love it.

Re: Apple laptops, you're going to want to wait until after Jan 27th. They're planning a big event to announce new stuff, and while the focus is going to be on their suspected Tablet and maybe new iPhone software and who knows what else, the time is ripe for updates to the laptop line as well. Even if you don't want the new stuff, odds are very good that you'll be able to get the same laptop you would have bought this week for a lower price.

And if nothing changes, well you only had to wait a week.

If you can, wait till the "back to school" sales start. By that time, Apple will have updated their machines and will probably toss in a free ipod of some kind with your purchase.

Do this. I bought my laptop a little bit before the rev'd the lines, and could have gotten a better laptop for cheaper

I bought mine from Best Buy while they were having the "Free Ipod for back to school" thing going.

Yes, I'm mildly moronic sometimes. Happens.
