I don't have a way to play games. Well, except for my macbook. I don't have television exclusivity. ( I live with my girlfriend, it's complicated, but don't suggest consoles, or offer advice otherwise.)

Here's the deal, what's my best bet? When it comes to gaming I like strategy games (Disgaea, FF Tactics, etc.), RPGS, and some platformers. My favorite game of all time is X-Com, followed by any tactical RPG like :^:.

I have owned both the DS and PSP in the past, I haven't had a gaming system for 2 years. Now I want one.

Can you guys help me decide? I don't mind absolutes (i.e., Get a PSP bro), but it would be cool if you could offer a game or two to justify it tho'.

If there's not a game in a genre I've listed, but you know it to be king of the heap, please let me know.

Since you can get Disgaea games and FFT War of the Lions on the PSP, so go with the PSP.

Sorry. I thought I said this, I played those games and beat them on the PSP. I don't want to play the games I already have.

Ah. Have you tried FFT A2 Grimmoire of the Rift on the DS?

Whats the diff twixt the DSi and DSlite?

Edit: Meaning, is there a clear advantage to the DSi?

DSlite has a Game Boy Advance slot.

DSi has NO GBA slot, a camera...and something else?

sony's boneheaded management of the psp (no umd drive on the pspgo???, games being locked, etc) plus the gba slot makes the ds the clear winner.

DSlite has a Game Boy Advance slot.

DSi has NO GBA slot, a camera...and something else?

DSi features I don't use at all (yet):

    - Cameras (one front, one in back)
    - SD Card slot
    - DLC/online game store

DSi features I use occasionally/make a small difference compared to the Lite:

    - bigger screens
    - Volume buttons instead of a slider
    - built-in internet browser
    - Wii-style home screen
    - matte finish

DSi features I use a lot/make a big difference over the Lite:

    - change brightness settings on the fly (hold 'select' and hit the volume buttons up or down)
    - clickier buttons
    - microphone seems more sensitive (only matters in Zelda games so far, but in Spirit Tracks I don't want to hyperventilate every time I use the fan thingy)

    Other differences:
No GBA slot (no guitar hero games)
    Slightly smaller/thinner
    Slightly shorter battery life
Power button rather than switch on the side
    WiFi indicator light
    More expensive
