Laptop Power Lead Replacement

I've got a noob question for you guys. I need to get a new power lead for a laptop. Should I get a universal or exactly the same type as came with it?

It is quite an old laptop.

    I would say just get a uni. I got one off of ebay for cheappppp for my girlfriend when hers broke not once, but twice.

    It'd be handy if I can as I'd be able to use it for other things and they tend to be cheaper.
