I continue to be astonished by the number of people who couldn't figure out the damn circus barrels.

You were able to figure it out?

    ....You are a god.

    Also, Sonic Rivals is rad.

Well it was the first time you had to do anything like it before in a Sonic game, really.

Christ, I can't believe I'm not the only one who had no goddamned clue how that was supposed to be done.

I may have to play again. I don't think I've ever seen what comes after that zone.

Fucking barrel. Or is it barrels? Is there more than 1?

what uhh, what did you have to do?

Because I can't recall being stuck but I also don't remember figuring out anything weird.

You have to jump onto a barrel in order to expose a passage. As you land on the barrel, it dips a bit, partially revealing the passage. Jump again, and the passage is further revealed.

Now, what would you suppose is the solution? Jumping up and down at a strategic time to make the barrel dip to the very bottom, allowing your escape? You'd think so.

In fact, you just have to press up and down while standing on it...

now that you mention it I do remember that... don't know how we figured it out, my cousin was very into sonic so he probably is the one who got it.

I hope he knows about this thread actually...

Just got The Mega Collection Plus and me and the Mrs have been enjoying it. Played through 1-3 and are at the end of S3&K right now after two days. Just had to say that you're all incompetent for not figuring out the barrel-puzzle in Carnival Zone. And that STH for the GameGear is heavily - almost unimaginably - underrated game.

It's still fun, but just don't expect to be blazing through Sonic 1 at high speeds until you're extremely familiar with the levels. And I don't see how the 'slow' levels like Marble Zone or the water areas can even be played at high speeds, considering all the waiting you have to do for platforms and such to move into position.

Protip: You don't have to wait if you are running fast enough.

Lime'd and fixed. The GG version was a butchered port of the SMS original.

And hell yes it's underrated it. It's the most platformy of all the sonic games, but it does it SOOO fucking well. Sonic SMS is what Sonic would be if it tried to be a Mario game... with great success.

was it just me who didn't really like sonic rush. maybe its because at the time i was stuck in a place with nothing else but that game for way too long. but the game was just way to frustrating and not fun to me.

and i'm not a sonic hater, i played the hell out of sonic 1, and love my sonic collection on my cube. although i do have a a friend that swears the level design went to crap after sonic one on genesis, i don't really agree with him. but i still didn't really enjoy sonic rush, guess i need to go back and give it another chance.
