Hey Guys,
So I gonna have a Winter-een-mas party next Saturday (Jan 30th). I have a vauge idea of what I'm doing and I know I will get people to come out. I just wanted to hear some feed back from you guys on what I should do.
I assume I'll get a switch and have some LAN Play, you know Starcraft. That went over really well last time. I got atleast 4-5 tvs so I'm shooting for some 8 player left 4 dead and some huge Mario Kart Wii Race.
I was also thinking of getting some simple rail-shooters going on at the begining while people are comming in so they can be entertained before everyone arrives. But I don't know many good rail shooters other than House of the Dead.
You guys have any other suggestions on how to make this party killer?
Lots of pop and chips makes for a great gamer party, I remember the one party I went to, we actually had a ton of people, but we had no pop and no chips, so we made a late night Mac's run. It was probably the most memorable part of the entire night. I'm not so sure how many people would want to walk to a store in the cold though.
Other than that, I'd say prepare some music that you can put on ambience, or if need be (and are allowed to and wont get noise complaints) provide louder music if the party is taking a turn, but I think you have enough planned to make it fairly decent. Perhaps some Halo, or some Team Fortress 2.
In my experience as well, I've found that when you put a shooter like Halo in the mix, tensions can run high, so be prepared to be a peace keeper.
Yeah, my first suggestion would be to not call it Winter Een Mas, but that's not helpful.
Yeah, I'd say a good mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for people of all creeds. Snacks aplenty. Nothing that stains or would ruin a controller.
You're not a real demographic unless you can dislike others in the same and/or similar demographics for arbitrary reasons.

There's quite a bit of animosity for CAD and CAD-derived concepts on the internet. You'd probably have a just as successful "gaming party!" (i.e. minus the name).
Rock Band + Lots of Booze= Good Times. I'd also say grab some pizza and wings. Many a Saturday night has been spent this way in our group.
If you're not gaming the whole time but want it to be gaming centric, throw together some video game sound tracks to play while you're eating and hanging out.

Good luck!

I don't really get what's wrong with the term Winter-een-mas, I figure all gamers get along.
But once again thanks for the input

Everyone likes drinks, and video game flavor is the best flavor.
