My ear feels like it's vibrating on the inside

It's been happening for the past couple days and I haven't really thought about it. It's an on and off thing. I looked up ear vibration in google and it came up with "Surfer's Ear". I don't want to go with that for two reasons: I don't surf and it requires surgery.

I don't know who else to ask and I don't want to make a doctors appointment for something that will just fix itself.

I will try to update this thread as best I can.

If you clench your jaw muscle does it replicate the vibration?

Sorta? It actually made it come back.

It sounds like a car running in my ear.

I thought Tinnitus was a high pitched "noise" with both ears. Mine is just in the left and it's a low rumble or vibrating feeling.

No other symptoms to report though.

    could be this...

Though, you don't have any of the other symptoms.

I can reproduce that rumbling vibration sound and feeling by clenching my jaw, so it is definitely the Tensor Tympani Muscle doing something strange. Maybe you just have a muscle spasm.

    I hope it's just a spasm.

It's the couple days thing that worries me.

Maybe wax buildup? Hard to say without having someone look at your ear with a scope. I'd say make a doctor's appointment/go to a walk-in clinic and get it checked out. The peace of mind is worth it, I think.

Did you put a vibrator in your ear recently?

Seriously though, echoing the "see the doctor" bit.

Tinnitus is a buzzing. I have very severe tinnitus in just my left ear. It could be described as a vibration, but only lightly... "buzz" is the proper description of it.

Bees. The suckers get in there all the time.

    Also: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/I_can_hear_a_buzzing_in_my_ear._It_started_two_weeks_ago_and_I_can_hear_it_even_when_I%27m_sleeping._It%27s_making_me_crazy._What_could_the_cause_be

Almost everything I've found repeats the same data. I'd schedule a doctor's appointment if it lasts much longer.
