I'm trying to disable Direct3D so I could run Baldur's Gate 2 without wierd graphical glitches but I can't find the option to do so anywhere. I'm using an Nvidia 9600 GT.
Sorry if this should have been in some other thread, I don't frequent this forum enough.
Probably the same as Vista, but I see the DirectX SDK is huge. There's also the Application Compatibility Toolkit, install it, run compatibility administrator.
Do file:save as, it will tell you to name and save your database do so select your named database in the left tree (if it isn't already) and click the fix button on the toolbar. Ignore the name and operating system mode pages and on the compatibility fixes page select "ForceDirectDrawEmulation", ignore the rest of the pages, when back to the main window select your database again and do file:install.
There's also a weidu patcher here, but it doesn't work for Baldur's Gate II (for some reason it's assumed that everyone can run Baldur's Gate II with 3D acceleration and no problems). It also mentions the patch here which again doesn't recommend using it with Baldur's Gate II (and it recommends disabling directdraw over using it) but it might not refuse to patch Baldur's Gate II like the weidu patcher does.
I tried disabling 3D acceleration on the config and I got this:
I'm hoping I'll be able to get the widescreen mod working but I guess I better get it working normally first. Anyone been running this in Windows 7?
Last post you wrote earlier in this thread, those black squares? DirectDraw acceleration. Try the application compatibility toolkit like I described (alternatively, try downloading the DirectX SDK and finding the setting there).
Edit: also you can try re-enabling 3D acceleration and making very sure all graphic driver settings are set to either the default value or application controlled (global graphic driver settings other than the default is a stupid idea imo).
FYI you'll never get it working if you keep forgetting to check for responses where you ask for help.
