Is my 360 about to die?

Earlier today I was playing Modern Warfare 2 online and my game suddenly froze on me. Something like that has never happened to me before so I tried again and once again it froze. Basically, the screen stays the same except little rectangles of the image get shifted to the right or left in vertical lines. (If that makes any sense)

So I tried putting in Fable 2, and that froze as well. I tried going to my harddrive to clean the cache as I heard that might be a problem, and that froze too. Then I tried playing with removing the harddrive and Fable 2 worked for a while. I put in Warriors Orochi 2 and played it for about 10 minutes and then the same thing happened.

I'm pretty sure its about to die (haven't seen any rings yet) but I just wanted to double check just in case its something fixable. I've had the 360 for about 4 years now and its in the middle of my room in a well ventilated space.

Yes, it's about to red ring. The same thing happened to me when mine went. Sorry to hear that it's 4 years old, you're out of the red ring coverage unless you have an amazing additional warranty.

Remember that repairs will probably cost around $150, but a new arcade is $200. Start saving your pennies now.

There's the most recent of these threads regarding a dying xbox.

If not a Red Ring, this could be the precursor to E 74 (a black screen with E 74 on it and some text in several languages). Once you hit E 74 you can no longer even boot up. While it doesn't explicitly say so anywhere that I recall, E 74 is covered under the extended warranty through support.xbox.com.

Yep, typical signs of a pending failure.

If you have to ask that question the answer is yes.

EDIT: Just read how old it is, tough break. Go buy yourself an arcade.

Update: So I bought another xbox arcade, and I instantly plugged in my hard drive and tried turning it on. I got an Error: E68 message. I panicked a little but then I figure I should install all the updates so I did that, and then I plugged in my HD and I was able to play all last night.

However, today I just turned my xbox on again and I got the Error 68 message. I restarted, and now its fine, but I'm worried. Any insights?

e 68 is hard drive failure. either the hard drive itself or the internal connection between it & the motherboard.
