So I'm a youngish dude, 25 years old. Ever since I moved out of my parents house I've been an apartment dweller. I tried to get my credit reports online today, and some weird shit came up. After you give it your information it starts asking you questions about shit on the report to confirm it's you. It asked me a question about a mortgage supposedly taken out in March 2009, which of course I couldn't answer because I've never taken out a mortgage.
So I filled out the paper work to get physical copies and I'm going to send that off in the morning. What's the next step? Because obviously there is at least one thing wrong on it.
You could call up one of the agencies and put a flag on your credit; should stop any further oddities from occurring.
Yeah, that's where I got it from.
I will try to call the credit agencies tomorrow, if they are open. If not, Monday.
As for calling my bank... what for? On the off chance this mortgage I apparently have is through them?
Your bank, assuming you're a long-time regular customer, will have people who can investigate what this muckery-doo about the mortgage is. Your bank really is there to help you with financial matters, including fraud.

If it isn't in your actual report, it's nothing to be concerned with, they're just checking your identity.
Well, yeah, but the only identifying question they asked was that one, and I apparently failed the question because they would not give me my credit report over the site.
I answered 'That's not my mortgage' and I was apparently wrong.
