Perhaps I can borrow this thread to ask for a recommendation of my own.
My 2 friends and I are playing the hell out of Borderlands right now. What are some other 3 player games we could get into? We've already played MUA2, Sacred 2 wasn't really that good.
Any 3 player co-op or competitive games on the horizon? FPS or Action or anything I should look out for?
How does Sacred 2 compare to say the PS2 Baldur's Gate games? I've been waiting for this one to get a price drop but it was on my radar.
Sacred 2 is in many ways a Diablo Clone, obviously. But with some key differences. I got it from Gamefly and didn't try to find a manual, the game seemed easy enough to figure out. But there were some things that took a bit to figure out.
As I was gaining levels I noticed I wasn't getting any more skillpoints. I still had a lame fireball spell. We finally realized that monsters randomly drop Runes which you use to give yourself skills. If you keep finding the same skill rune you can keep adding ranks to it. However the more points in it the longer it's cooldown gets. It's a really weird system and apparently you can screw yourself by adding too many points. There was a lot of advice on how to build your character on the wiki for it.
So that was strange, but also the combat didn't feel right. You hold the button for whatever skill you want to use (or the weapon you have). So if you have a sword you hold X and a yellow circle appears under the enemy. The character runs to the enemy and keeps attacking until they die or you let go of the button. If you move the left stick you can switch which enemy the yellow circle is under. So in that way it feels more like a Mmorpger and less like an action rgp. You can't just keep hitting X to kill stuff.
Finally they don't force you on any quest immediately. The land is in peril blah blah. If you chose Light go save it, if you chose Shadow go rape it. Basically run in any direction, kill what you find and grab any quests that people offer. The complete open world is nice, I liked it, but my friends didn't.

But, if you are after mere parlor tricks, you will be sorely disappointed. For if I reach behind your ear, it will not be a nickel I pull out, but your very soul!
I love Survival Horror. System Shock 2 is my favorite game of all time. I also really liked Dead Space and the first three Silent Hill games. Not so big on Resident Evil, but it's probably just the immersion-breaking "find the crests to continue" gameplay.
I don't know what the options are to download Siren Blood Curse in the US, but the PS3 is region-free and the Asian version of the game is in English.
So... I think I found out why I can't seem to enjoy my PS3.
I have monster hands, and still only have the SIXAXIS controllers. Ugh. Does anyone know where I can find a good DS3 controller for cheap? I prefer the official one unless you guys suggest something else.
Um, I'm pretty sure the Dual Shock 3 controllers are the same size as the SIXAXIS controllers.
Yes. And the weight difference is negligible.
I disagree, the dual shock is noticeably heavier, which I much prefer. Feels like it has some heft, but I used to prefer the old xbox controllers over their new ones for the same reason.
Weight Difference negligible? Really?
I'm with Arkady on this one. The SIXAXIS is like the PS1 controller. Great when I was a young lad, but now I can't play on it anymore. The DS3 is the PS2 controller, which is a little heavier.
I guess that's why I prefer to play all the games on the 360. The controller fits my monster hands oh so well, and it's heavy.
Hmm true. But offbrand controllers always feel really cheap.
I suppose it couldn't be worse than the SIXAXIS.

Sixaxis is really cheap.
They start breaking after heavy use within a few months.
They feel like they're well made but they're pretty damn delicate. It's the triggers that break the most: there is some kind of plastic bit in between the trigger and the l1 r1 button that often comes loose and then that trigger feels all weird and loses its spring.
The plastic between r2 r1 and l2 l1 is prone to breaking as well.
I've only had my new one for about 8 months and had that piece of plastic I'm talking about come loose and start rattling around inside my controller.

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
I was playing that TV Show Quiz game today. I was having fun until the part of the game where you have to use the SixAxis controls to wipe dirt off the answers so you can see what the choices are. Fuck that noise, it's not precise enough for that.

i dropped my original sixaxis once and the little bit of plastic between l1 and l2 broke right off. the l2 button was permanently depressed from then on, had to buy a new controller. it prompted me to finally get a dualshock 3 though, which is infinitely better.
Will a Harmony remote work instead of a Blu-Ray remote?
I ask because I've got like 4 remotes already, adding one that automatically turns my PS3 on whenever the kids get hold of it is a frightening prospect
Yes. With an adapter. That costs as much as a Harmony One.
I didn't really feel like making a new thread but I was wondering if anyone could list some underrated PS3 games.
I have a gamefly account and I figure I may as well put it to good use. I'll play just about any genre. So far i've played the majority of the big name games. A small list follows.

I bought that for the little IR>USB dongle, and I just use my Harmony remote with it. Sure, I can't turn the PS3 on with it, but at least I don't need to use my Dual Shock to watch movies or keep an extra remote around.

What am I missing out on that didn't get a ton of publicity?
Heavenly Sword
...still gorgeous today, and absolutely incredible presentation. The best facial animation I've seen so far this gen - just not the best brawler around.
The Darkness
Also does some interesting things in terms of presentation, but after some other big-name FPSes it's merely okay. Still worth looking into, since its so damn cheap these days.
Siren: Blood Curse
Ex-members of the Silent Hill dev team refined the formula they set forth with the original PS2 Siren. I am perhaps too fond of it, but let me put it this way: The spine-tingling experience of survival horror properly combined with the tense gameplay of a stealth title.
Awesome? Yes. Awesome. That said, it's disappointed a few folks around here.
Oh, and if you haven't played Mirror's Edge, you really should. Darksiders and Bayonetta too. Also, Brutal Legend. And the new Prince of Persia is fun enough if you don't mind an over-simplified system.
And Prototype.

Way more expensive in Australia.

Every time I try to get into a PSN match I get my arse kicked.
There are some real stinkers on that list (IMO), but I think for hidden treasures, many folks like are games like Wipeout HD Fury and Killzone 2.
You could get this thing ...

Oh I know. I was just listing some games that were at least in the public eye. I think I will try Wipeout HD
also i should add
Dead Space
