How To: Record Xbox 360 gameplay for internets.

I started looking into this years ago to do some Let's Play stuff for some old Saturn games. Though solutions back then didn't really seem as viable for online shooters. Really worried about latency and what not.

Now, though, it seems like that issue is over with.

Was wondering what hardware is best for hooking up to that there Xbox 360 so I can record gameplay for uploading to the interbutts.

I looked into this a little while back. There's some very simple Composite to USB capture card devices that will work decently and be priced just as decently (20-40 smackeroos).

I think one is the Dazzle/Pinnacle recorder, which can be found at Best Buy or NewEgg.

I also looked into a Component or HDMI input for your PC and yeesh. Those are expensive. Close to a grand.

Basically what you want is something to split video out from your 360 into your pc and tv. There should be no latancy issues, but you will have to consider what resolution your pc and take. There are many cheap video capture cards that will do 480p, but 720 and up will cost more. You will not be able to record your voice in the game even if you split your audio out wires.

    Just voice or all sound?

I've never found a component splitter that had appropriate male/female plugs either, but I'll look again. Thanks!

Look for a simple "Y" splitter for the appropriate cable size (like whatever the RCA size is). Your voice does not get sent out to your speakers, so there is no signal to record. If you set the setting to "all chat through speakers" only or "both headset and speakers", you can record other people's voice during a game.
