So I heard Aion was a pretty sweet game. I have yet to experience it myself, although this came out in '09.
NCSOFT (maker of Guild Wars, Linage, and City of Heroes) has come up with another interesting MMO.

    Aion was fun, but there's a fundamental flaw in their PvP, and being that it was a PvP based game it really puts a downer on the end game.

    Basically, if you played a ranged class that could kite opponents and you were even moderately good at kiting, you won in air to air PvP against a melee opponent. It basically became a ranged attack game, which eliminated a large chunk of classes. Range vs Range fights in the air were fun though.

    DoW 1 is hard as fuck once you get past dark crusade

    its really fun, well worth the 33$ but I dont know how good the AvA stuff is or if its worth money, would have to check the MMO forum for that

    the soulstorm campaign was so disappointing and boring that I actually ejected the disc and threw it across the room

    I felt very silly afterwards. I don't know what came over me

    Throwin' discs.

    So I installed Aion. The 1-10 level content is interesting. I enjoyed becoming a Daeva (thats what you get called after you get your wings at level 9ish). A whole new world opens up after that though. Also, I don't think you can even judge the game until you hit level 25, due to the fact that at level 25 the Abyss area opens up (the abyss is PvPvE) and offers a whole new aspect to the game.

    I bought this on launch day, like i do with every mmo

    now I'm playing Fallen Earth on and off

    I got to level 28 right off the bat with AION then got tired of grinding, and I love grinding

    [edit] the most promising changes here are really the housing and the fact that they have clearly given chanters whips and aoe-centric abilities, which is what they needed! shit yeah
