Trouble installing Snow Leopard

So I just got snow leopard, but i'm having some trouble installing it. Whenever it reaches 40% of the installation bar, it restarts the computer, but it's still not installed.

I'm running on an intel iMac with 10.5.4 currently. Is it a faulty disc or something else?

    Restart the computer holding down the Option (Alt) key and select the Disc option.

    This won't let you install (unless you do a wipe) but it will let you check your HD for errors and the disc for damage.
