HD-DVD display issue.

Ok, so I have the Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player. I'm trying to watch A Scanner Darkly on the TV, but I noticed that some of the display was being cut off...

For some reason, the HD-DVD player locks my HDTV into "Full" wide mode when playing in 1080i.

Any ideas? I tried shutting the HD-DVD off and locking in "Normal" wide mode, but that didn't work...it just switches back to "Full" when I load the HD-DVD up again.

I'm connected through HDMI.

I tried googling the issue and I see someone else asked but no one answered him. I went into the HD-A1 set up menu and see nothing related to TV stretch modes.
