Nintendo's 2010 Wii release calendar. With Zelda, Kirby, and some RPGs.

So rather than burying this in the "Let's talk about what GAF's talking about" megathread, I thought we could have a whole thread dedicated to talking about what Nintendo has coming this year (in Japan at least).

So, here's the list
* Xenoblade (Wii, Spring 2010)
* Metroid Other M (Wii, Summer 2010)
* Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)
* The Last Story (Wii, 2010)
* Kensakusu (Wii, TBA)
* Span Smasher (Wii, TBA)
* Start With 100 Words: English Conversation (Wii, TBA)
* Hoshi no Kirby (Wii, TBA)
* Line Attack Heroes (Wii, TBA)
* The Legend of Zelda (Wii, TBA)

So some of this stuff we have little idea what it is. The Last Story? Huh. Sounds RPGish. A quick google says it's made by Mistwalker.

But Metroid is coming fairly soon, probably within five or six months. It's a likely as anything on that list to hit the US before it hits Japan. It's good to see that Kirby is still in development, as well.

Looking at this, Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Kirby, a Xenogame by the team from Xenosaga, and a Mistwalker game make this Nintendo's strongest hardcore lineup of the generation. It's going to be a rad year for Wii owners.

    Xenoblade (aka mondao) had a pretty interesting trailer back at E3. If they can polish it up a bit, I'd definitely be interested.

    Metroid: OM is day one
    SMG2 is day one
    LoZ:wii is day one (though it probably wont make 2010)

    I'm interested in the last story based solely on the logo, the music on the teaser site, and mystwalker.

    Not really sure about any of the other games. Span smasher and line attack seem interesting from the tidbits we've seen but all we've seen are tidbits. I'm convinced that the pending kirby wii game is just one big nintendo troll job,

    It's stunning to me that Metroid is supposed to arrive during summer, yet they still haven't shown or said anything tangible about it.

    I picked up Super Mario Galaxy quite some time after the announcement of the sequel, thinking "oh, I can play this and when I finish there'll be the sequel waiting for me!"

    Kirby Wii is a running joke by Nintendo, to see how long they can keep people believing it's coming. It's been on their "upcoming release" list since 2006.

    I'm sure when SMG3 and M:Other Other M are listed in 2013, Kirby will still be there.

    Nintendo rarely says much about their games before release to not spoil it...it's one of my favorite things about the company.

    As far as this goes, it will be an awesome year for Nintendo fans.

    Kirby, as much as I want a new game for the Wii, is probably...yes, a huge troll job. :(

    I can just see the round table writing out their upcoming game lists:

    Iwata: "Ok guys, we got Metroid, Mario, Zelda, a couple of RPGs, anything else we have coming up we want people to be excited about?"

    Corporate stooge: "How about Kirby Wii?"

    Iwata: *laughs* "No no no, we can't, people won't still fall for it."

    Corporate stooge: "C'mon it'll give us a good laugh!"

    Iwata: "OK, throw that puffball on there, and start monitoring the message boards"

    All: *laughs*

    if it's akin to tradition FFs pre FFX, then they'll I'm in, regardless of ripoff status. I'm excited for FFXIII but the art style, linearity, and recent battle systems of the FF franchise are changes I'm not all to ecstatic about.

    No, but take something like Mario Galaxy; when they unveiled it, they clearly showed what kind of game it was and what we could expect to get out of it.

    What do we even know about Other M? Is it 2D? Is it 3D? How is it structured? All we have is a few snippets of something that can barely be classified as gameplay and a bunch of CG clips. It doen't really tell me anything about the game.

    Unless I missed something obvious.

    Wasn't Kirby even actually announced in '05 for the Gamecube?

    Personally I'd love to see Nintendo put Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble up on Wiiware. It can be a direct port for all I care, but the Wii remote is perfect for the game.

    guys... i dont know how to say this best...
    let me try this way...
    how many of these games have had playable demos presented so far?

    except for SMG2 I'm not holding my breath for ANY of these titles for 2010.

    and also... FF:CC has really strangled any kind of excitement i could have for future non-first party wii titles period.

    There are no games for the wii! A lack of third party support means all the wii has is mario! What's that? A respected studio is making a game for the wii? WHAT? This is a travesty! What a waste!

    First off, several of these have been reiterated several times by several people to be 2010.

    The Kirby game is just that GameCube platformer that's been in development for like a decade now. It's turning into the Nintendo equivalent of Duke Nukem Forever.

    That's what I'm afraid of.

    In fact Monado (Xenoblade) was shown at E3 last year, which makes me think that it will be coming to the US...but things like that have changed. (Disaster is an example)

    Hopefully both get localized since they both look and/or sound fantastic.
