Below the Mason-Dixon Line: Things to do in Enemy Territory

(No, actually, I don't consider the south to be enemy territory.)

So I'm going to be in North Carolina, specifically Winston-Salem. My plane lands in the morning on April 17th and takes off in the morning on April 25th. I (and my husband) are looking for things we can do with my in-laws while we're there. Restaurants and museums are a good idea, as are bowling alleys and craft stores, if there are any local festivals going on that'd be cool to know too. We're on a budget.

Thank you in advance. :)

Edit: I don't eat pork, nor do I drink alcohol, and I tend to avoid places which only serve alcohol and bar snacks. A restaurant which happens to have a bar attached to it is ok, though.

Man I'd hit up whatever restaurants serve not-the-norm food for where I live (Northwest) eg, catfish and crawfish and such.

Also; learn to play / impluse buy a banjo.

I know nothing about that area of NC. I did a quick search and results said there is a Mellow Mushroom Pizza there. It is hardly authentic or unique to the area but we had one in Destin and it was delicious and reasonably priced.

This is all I can say. :P
