Hey, been playing NHL 10 a lot, and today it stopped working. I didn't take it out for probably a couple weeks, but all of a sudden I get disk read errors whenever it tries to load. The disk has one tiny scratch on it, who knows how long that has been there. As far as I know, the XBOX didn't do it, it didn't have that earth shattering disk tray noise when it tries to slow the disk down.
So I called xbox support, they're not going to do anything because it isn't a game published by them, and they said I should get my XBOX repaired if that's the problem, but that costs 130 bucks.
EA has a disk replacement thing but it's 20 US, so 25 for me, and I really don't want to pay any money to get this replaced, as it wasn't my fault.
Who's fault is this? The disk is out of its 3 month warranty, and the XBOX is out of warranty, so I assume I'm just shit out of luck? Is there a secret code to get either of these companies to give you a free disk?
Thanks.
Edit: It's definitely the disk, other games work fine on the XBOX.

Aside from having the disc resurfaced, you're going to have to grab a new disc. It shouldn't become unreadable from simply playing the game often, but who knows what happened to it otherwise.
Since you're out of the disc's warranty, what did you expect? You just said the console reads other games fine, and I'm assuming this has never happened to you before with other discs, so it's not your console.
