Gaming laptop suggestions

DemocracyIsDeadDemocracyIsDead Registered User new member
Sorry, i'm new to the forums but i was wondering if you can help me. I've been thinking of buying a laptop, and have one in mind, but its alienware and i heard they were extremely overpriced. If anyone could direct me to an equal or better laptop for the same or lower price that would be very appreciated. Other than that any comments would help. Thanks

Specs: 15 inch alienware 1080p screen
Processor:Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Quad Core Processor 1.6GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
Graphics: 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 240M
Memory:4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz and a 320gb hard drive

    1080p on a 15" screen?

I bet the text would be insanely small to read. I personally think ASUS makes the better gaming laptop.

Edit: I'd also recommend reading this thread.

As was suggested in your other thread, use search.

Better yet, use your eyeballs, there is a 3 page gaming laptop thread on the first page of this forum.

What are your needs? In nearly all cases a gaming laptop is not very portable and has bad battery life. If you're thinking you're gonna whip out your laptop and play a couple hours of Call of Duty on battery power, then think again. If you plan on using it as a desktop replacement, then I would scrap that idea and just go with a desktop.

In any case, avoid Alienware like the plague. Look into the ASUS G series or Gateway FX series. I have this one myself and it does a pretty good job. Video card gets hot as hell, but I have a cooler that helps the situation a bit.

You want a netbook and a desktop.
